Thanks tiny! It was so great. I've read and heard the stories, never would I imagine it would happen to me. Paying it forward was the best part. The lady I helped out is going to help deliver homemade meals and visit with elderly folks without family on Christmas eve, so she's paying it forward as well. Really makes me feel good.

Just thought I'd give you guys an update real quick since I'm at the library. I have a job interview tomorrow at the local Days Inn! I had one right before Thanksgiving and it went really well, but then when I followed-up on it, the manager said that she wouldn't be making a decision until after Christmas. Well, I got a call this morning that they want me to come in for a second interview tomorrow morning at 11:30am! This job would be perfect as the hotel is literally a mile from our (current) house. Not sure yet if it's full-time or part-time, but either one works right now.

In other news, we're having a yard sale this weekend so I can hopefully get money to pay my board. I have two bags of clothes, a milk crate full of shoes, a few items of furniture and a few fish tanks to sell. I'm getting rid of my 75 gallon fish tank that I was hoping to set up because I have nowhere to set it up (Connie refuses to let me set it up in the house) and it's just sitting out on the back porch. I figure once we get our own place, I can get another tank, as you see them all the time on our Craigslist for relatively cheap (found a 110 gallon set up for $200 the other day). By then I'll have the money to set it up, too.

Anyway, hope everyone's holidays were great.

Had the most amazing thing happen to me today. I guess I'm getting some good karma back. Went to walmart with the kiddo to get some stuff for my friend (same one that just brought home baby) and to let DD pick out a gift for DH & a few groceries. We were checking out and a service manager and a guy walk up behind us and he says "In the spirit of Christmas and paying it forward I'd like to pay for your purchases. I've been walking around for awhile trying to pick someone, I picked you because your daughter is so polite." He bought all of my friends stuff (80 bucks worth) and mine (over 200!). I am blown away and so insanely proud of my kiddo. So DD & I are going to pay it forward tonight, a friend of mine has had a rough patch and hasn't been able to get Christmas for her kiddos so we are taking her shopping and buying their Christmas gifts. Feeling so amazing right now!
This...is beautiful. What a blessed thing that stranger did for you, and you in turn payed forward for another...truly heartwarming. Wishing a wonderful New Year to you and yours, and while I'm at it, EVERYONE HERE ON HF!!!

I got the job!! I started on Friday. I was originally going to be working nights (3pm to 11pm), but they changed their minds today and I'll be working days (7am to 3pm). Either way, I'm just happy to have a job. It's not too difficult and I really like the people I'm working with. The hardest part is being on my feet for pretty much eight hours straight, but I'll get used to it.

Great news Drafty! Get some good shoes with lots of support as soon as you can afford them, they're essential for long periods of standing. At the least get some inserts for your current shoes. I'm on my feet from 8.30am till 5.30pm most days and my feet get terrible if my shoes are crap.

Been thinking of all of you in the US with this Arctic Vortex thing you're having. I need to send some of our summer heat your way, its going to be 42C here on Saturday. I can't even imagine having weather as cold as you're all getting!

I am delighted for you Paige!! Fingers crossed this is the start of a run of GOOD luck cus god knows you deserve it!

Stop for a minute, open your mind, learn. You may not agree with what I say, I may not agree with what you say but we will both learn something new.

YEAY!!!! Soooo happy to hear your wonderful news...it's amazing (as you well know!) what a positive difference being employed again after struggling to find work in this crazy economy, can bring to your life; & not merely financial. People yearn (most anyway) to be productive and self-sufficient...your life should really take a turn for the better in days ahead. Congratulations. I wish you nothing but the very best... :0)
