I apologise in advance - SUPER PROUD MOMMY here!!

Went to the show today, she WON her class!!!

10376825_10152567925544708_941371812330782778_n.jpg

She did well. One of the other kids rode much more confidently but the judge put everything into consideration - we were easily best turned out, she as dressed the best and her seat/equitation were far better than the others. I was delighted as the judge at this show last year was local and picked the local kids.

Having won our class, we then qualified for the Championship.... and finished secodn!! First ever Reserve Champion for my little woman! The placing were spot on, the kid who won (was on the leadline) but they looked the part, th kid rode well. DD again hesitant to move forward. I think that being her first time off the lead she was more confused on what to do. They could have let the kids on the leadlines go first to give the others an idea of what to do?

Anyway... we are all (tired) and DELIGHTED with the results

Stop for a minute, open your mind, learn. You may not agree with what I say, I may not agree with what you say but we will both learn something new.

Very cool!!
How come leadline competes against a child who is alone? I know nothing about showing. :)

Congrats, Maple!! Way to go, little one!

We went to our town's Frontier Days Parade today (coincides with 4th of July, as we host the World's Oldest Rodeo, and Prescott was the territorial capital of Arizona). It was a lot of fun. We went with Robert's mom and brother, and the brother took us out to breakfast before the parade started. I was a little disappointed with the parade this year. Saw A LOT of horses that needed a lot more weight/condition before being ridden. It started to rain about an hour before the parade finished, but we stuck it out (MIL had an umbrella for herself, but it only fit her underneath). Got completely drenched, but it was a lovely, warm summer rain, so I'm not complaining. Came home and took a nap before work. Now I'm at work and bored out of my mind. lol

Thanks guys!! We are delighted for her!

It's just because they are both in the "novice riders category".. i think it varies from show to show. My BIL's gf was there and she could no get her head around the fact that they could compete. Obviously the child on the leadline has a bit of an advantage but that's part of the game unfortunately. Saying this, the kid who won had a fab pony, was well turned out and did everything that was required.... if DD had ridden more forward and confidently she would have given the other kid a run for the money but we are happy with how we did

Congrats Maple! I always chuckle when I see little ones all dressed up, looking fierce in their riding gear.

We had a busy weekend so far and it's only Sunday. Had two 4th of July parties to go to so I begged DH if we can just stay home today. I decided to get back in shape so I attempted the 20 minute HIIT workout routine, but fainted after 17 minutes :( I guess it was a little ambitious of me to assume that I could finish it.

On a lighter note, I ordered Ana one of those anatomical leather girths and it finally arrived yesterday. Can't wait to try it on her tomorrow morning. We've been riding in the mornings as it gets miserably hot during the day.

We have two new rescue horses at the barn, one is a little pony that's expecting a foal any day now. Ana is fascinated by her but she won't have anything to do with her. It will be fun to have a little foal around - can't wait!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hope all you USA people are having a great long weekend, and everyone else is having a great weekend regardless!

I'm not feeling the new job assignment. It's okay, but I'm a little scared when I realize they lay their people off over the winter. Which would be a SERIOUS level of hurt for my pocketbook, considering I'd be on unemployment for 4 months if I can't find something else.

I got rejected by the other job I had high hopes for, so I was in a bit of a state on Thursday night. I have anxiety issues and I tend to go into a panic tailspin when things start piling up in a short period of time. My friend who works for the company said that they probably rejected me based on wanting too much money, apparently their salaries are not very good. So, back to the drawing board. I still have irons in the fire at my dream job, so I'm still hopeful I'll get to go "back home"!

But I've spent this weekend having some fun at least. Friday I went to a pool party/BBQ down at my best friend's house, it was great to catch up with her and my other friends I don't get to see often. We're looking at going to the MD Science Center for her birthday since I've got two adult admissions already paid for. Saturday I went swimming with another close friend up at a state park north of my city, and that was a ton of fun too! :)

Maple, happy to hear about DD's wins! Congrats to her on pushing through even when her confidence has been shaken, she sounds like one tough cookie !

Horse stuff is pretty much on hold here. People are selling their minis left and right, and they're PRETTY and REGISTERED. ARRRGH.

*waves* Hello. :)

I made an account awhile ago, but i haven't been an active forum participant anywhere for quite some time. I've been doing a lot of reading, though, and just recently decided I should quit lurking, but i got a bit caught up in responding to threads and never introduced myself.

I'm not sure what, if anything, you all would want to know about me, but here's the basics: I'm 30, and I've been involved with horses for 28 of those years. I have been an assistant trainer, a trainer/instructor, PATH, int. Certified therapeutic riding instructor, and barn manager. I apprenticed first, then taught for 13 years. I still manage a small retirement and rehab barn, but my day job is now as a tack &feed store manager. My life revolves around my animals, I have three amazing horses of my own, and a yearling heifer, along with two cats and a giant rabbit.

I am a Christian, And FaIith and family are important in every aspect of my life. I have Aspergers/High functioning autism, and i am a huge comic book nerd. :)

I'm looking forward to getting to know other members here!
