Hi everyone,

I haven't been around the forum in a few weeks and I just noticed the 30 somethings thread! I adopted my mustang Cascade last spring, and in another month I should be getting the paperwork that makes her mine. I'm excited. She's still with her trainer, but we're moving to DC in July, and as soon as we get there, I'll be searching for the perfect home for her, then her trainer will drive her out for me.

I'm a military wife and mom of two and an author. I've got three sweet shelter buddies, my dog and two kitties, and a tank full of fish.

I'm just saying hello!

Yet somehow, despite all my marketable skills and the fact that whenever I have an interview, the person interviewing me seems to really like me, I have "failed" more interviews than I've nailed. I've interviewed at places and not gotten the job, only to find out that someone with far less experience got the job. Even when I know people who work at the company I'm applying at and they give me a good recommendation, I don't get the job. That's what happened with the job I interviewed for a few weeks back. It was for a receptionist at a cabinetry manufacturer. I know a guy who works as a kitchen design and salesperson. He put in a VERY good word for me with the GM. Two days after I submitted my application, the GM called me for an interview. Went to the interview (was early for the interview) and felt really good about how the interview went. Was told they'd have a decision by the following afternoon and would call me. Never heard another word from them. I even called them and asked that the GM call me back because I was told he was busy. No call. And that's how it usually goes.

The stress from work today isn't helping, either. I've washed four customer cars and detailed out three rental cars in four hours. They keep bringing me customer cars with no warning, and the rental car guy is almost breathing fire because he needs these cars (have four rental cars left to do, plus whatever customer cars they bring me). The service writers and the service managers are expecting me to get the customer cars done in ten minutes, which is physically impossible, because we hand wash and hand dry ALL the cars we get, which takes a minimum of twenty minutes for a car and twenty-five to thirty minutes for an SUV (I do courtesy washes for the Hyundai and Subaru service).

Wow, that is a tough gig for sure. I think your boyfriend's approach is typical of a dude - sweet, caring to be sure but sometimes missing the point altogether.

Fact is, it won't work out - unless you decide on a plan and start working towards it. Good to be real, eh? At least if you have a plan of action you can start to look forward to something

I'm sure you have plenty of potential in other customer oriented roles, especially ones that allow for some upward mobility so you can at least see the light at the end of the tunnel. What about working for one of the large insurance companies? I know people sniff at insurance agencies (I've never worked for one, so can't speak for them), however they offer entry level jobs and the chance to move upwards based on performance.

Hang in there!

OMFG I just had to help hubby break up a hellacious dog fight! Bentley (125 lb German Shepherd) would have killed Oskar (100 lb German Shepherd, my BABY)for sure. I can't deal with this **** really. Bentley has to go, period. This is the third fight and the worst one yet, and it's only going to get even worse. I love Bentley, but I just seriously don't have the time or energy to deal with this. The icing on the cake is that my two little girls were out there when the fight broke out. It scared the hell out of them and I just won't have that mess happening around my kids! My husband was on the other side of the fence working on his truck, and he literally had to tear the fence down to get in and grab Bentley's back legs and try to separate them. I came out the back door with the broom, which was useless as I broke it over their heads and they couldn't have cared less. DH had to use all of his 6'3 and 275 lbs and pin Bentley so I could get Oskar! UGHHHH DOGS! I'm seriously to the point where I don't like them any more. We are going to keep our senior girl, Allie (also GSD) and Oskar and I seriously doubt we will ever get another. I would rather have horses!!!

Ok, I'm done fussing. Sorry :(

Sarah, I have a couple of avenues open, but they are ones that will take several months, minimum, to cone to fruition, should I pursue any of them. One of them is becoming a substitute teacher. In the state of Arizona, the only requirements to be a substitute teacher is an associate's degree (doesn't matter the area) and a substitute teacher certificate (basically a background check and fingerprinting). I need just one or two more classes to get my associate's of general studies. My dad has offered to help me pay for the classes I need.

However, in the meantime, I need to be making more money.

I will say that my day did get a little better. I ended up doing ten and a half cars today (five rentals and five and a half customer cars...I say "a half" because I helped start washing it and got it all soaped up, then had to clock out and leave because we are absolutely not allowed to have overtime and it was time for me to go home).

Emily, what was the fight about? These dogs are fixed, yes? How long have they been together?

It was because Bentley is a jerk!! lol. Yes, they are fixed and have been together since Bentley was a puppy. He turned 2 on Thanksgiving. The problem is Oskar is a dominant dog, always has been. Now Bentley is trying to assert himself and move up in rank. Bentley is way bigger and stronger and can kill Oskar. I'm just done dealing with it, I can't any more. He's a great dog and has incredible drive, he would be great for schutzhund or similar work, but will definitely have to go to an experienced gsd owner.

I was actually considering that! I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I knew anything bad ever happened to him. I've had him since he was a wee pup :( I want him to be loved and appreciated for all he has to offer, not be tied to a tree or kept in some crap kennel for the rest of his life. He's great with kids and people.

I would definitely contact your police department and see what they have to say. He sounds like he'd be a good candidate.

Trying to catch up, you guys are hilarious and mind bogglingly busy deep ladies, hugs to all!!

So why have I been MIA? You know how they say you spend your first forty tearing up your body and the next forty trying to preserve it?
Well in my case I'm breaking down at 32! Lol!!
I partied and lived like a rock star 24/7 starting at 15 and slowed down at 24 (kinda) when I had my kid.

So this week I handed my dentist a fortune and my proverbial balls.
When I was 20, one night, I raced my roommate up a flight of stairs, carrying groceries, drunk as a skunk and ate a couple steps. Brilliant!
Broke my front tooth and fractured the other. Got patched up by an insane dentist who didn't believe in pain killers, but hey they were the only one that would help out a girl on a Saturday!

Soooo... Went in this week to get a fresh cap because I chipped it months ago while chowing down on a sandwich after having one too many at 3am (I said kinda)! Find out I had to get a root canal on three teeth because of the "accident", veneers, bleaching (because I kinda still smoke), AND I had my first cavity! SOAB!!!!!

I am in so much pain! I also look like a complete idiot because the temps are too large and I can't eat because stupid made them too thick to chew properly!!! So final veneers will be ready in a month... Maybe I'll lose some much hated stress weight? Lol!! There is always a bright side!

MHF your babies are getting soooo big, honor is lookin awesome, must have current shedded out

Drafty hang in there, stress sucks. While I hope that's all it is, it sucks! Trying to not be stressed is stressful!!

EMS you crack me up!! Loved your post on page 28. Or was it 30? IDK but it was great!

Alex, if you were closer I'd drink a few with you!
You are a huge inspiration!

Hi new/newly 30's!!

Hugs to all!!!
