Advice please for building a horse shelter?

I'd like to have a simple, small 3 sided shelter with a roof built for the horse on our property. It would be just enough to provide shelter from rain, wind, and snow. How large does it need to be so she can turn around at least? Any advice appreciated.
(We don't own the horse but the owner doesn't take proper care of her so we feed her and take care of her as best we can as she's sort of on our property. I'm tired of seeing her trying to find shelter in the trees and feel sorry for her. If you've read my older posts, this is the same horse who scares me to death so I keep a fence between her and me although she adores my husband).

10x12 would be more than enough.

Should it have a window? Is a dirt floor okay?
This horse is about 7 and has never had a shelter--is it a sure thing she would use it?

How can she be "sort of" on your property? Either she is or she isn't. If you don't have his permission to feed her, in writing, you could wind up in court. Most horses will leave a shelter to stand out in the open during bad weather. The noise of the weather on the shelter plays havoc with the horse's senses so it will move into the open to better see what it's not hearing so well and can't smell. It's all about survival. Most horses will bum up to a wall but not go inside. If you feed this horse, why should the owner?

No window. Dirt floor is fine, just try and place it so water drains away from it. All you need is 3 sides, open side facing away from the winter weather ( our open side faces south east since the winter weather comes from the north west).
