AHA Registration Name Changes?

Sorry for posting so many threads, guys.

My horse, a four year old half arabian gelding with no show record, was named a while ago by my sister when we thought we were selling him. I would like to change his registered name. I know some registries will allow this under certain circumstances, and I looked all over the AHA website and couldn't see anything on the matter. Does anyone know if they allow name changes?

They did back in 200-something when I changed my old stallions name.
I would assume they do - probably be easiest if you call them. I think it was about $50 to change it. But... That was awhile ago.

Thanks :) I will try that. Would I need to know the new name before calling them?

Yes they do ... and to me, it's plenty expensive enough I wouldn't do it.

Here's the link you are looking for. Welcome to Arabian Horses.org - REGISTRATION FEES

Scroll all the way down to the "Other Fee's" Section and you see name change in there.

As long as the horse doesn't have any recognized show points, and in the case of mares and stallions, if they additionally don't have any recorded offspring, you're allowed to change their names. I think it's only allowed to change once, but I could be wrong on that part.

$250.00/$275.00 for a registered name change isn't inexpensive, so unless you absolutely HATE the animal's registered name and have money to throw around, I wouldn't bother.

I was young when he was born so my parents had my sister name him even though he was going to be my horse, and she named him after a pop band that I hate xDDD it's a pretty silly story really, but I have been saving up quite a bit of money and my parents are going to let me change it for my birthday.

Wow I must sound like a really dumb teen girl right now lol sorry guys.

No, you're fine Bay. If you really dislike his registered name, there's no reason you can't change it if you have the money and he fits the criteria.
