Alterations to breeches

Okay, I couldn't figure out where else to put this...

I couldn't find any real breeches to fit me that weren't insanely expensive, so I was at Walmart and found a couple pairs of black "denim" leggings that feel just like the breeches we had at work a few weeks ago. Anyway, I was wanting to know if anyone has tried to add the seat part to a pair of leggings themselves. I was thinking of getting some synthetic suede or other kind of "tacky" material like that and sew it onto the seat. Anyone think this would work?

Also, I have a question for any LDS/Mormon members we have here, but it's kind of a personal question that I'd rather not ask on the open forum, so PM me if you are LDS/Mormon, please.

I never tried, but I wonder why do you need to add the "seat"? I ride in all kind of old pants (use breeches mostly for just lessons) and never had a problem.

I just thought it'd be more secure. I rode a little bit in the English saddle I'll be using for trail riding the other day (on my friend's arab mare) and I felt extremely slippery on the seat. I was wearing my regular work jeans. I figured it'd be cheaper to add a seat to my leggings instead of buying a sheepskin cover for the saddle seat.
