Animal Control will not take action...

Shasta County Animal Control has refused to help these horses. Numrous people have called with no action taken. These horses will not survive in this condition much longer. Please help us make Animal Control take responsibility and to take action by saving these poor horses from the obvious neglect they have been facing. I have only posted one picture but have many more to show how dire this situation is. Please feel free to call animal control and complain. If you have any questions you can message me and I will gladly tell you anything you need to know. I could say so much about the way these horses are being kept but I think the picture speaks for itself. Shasta County Animal Control`s numer is: (530) 245-6065

I really would love to hurt anybody who would do this. Umm if animal control isn't doing anything than somebody needs to either call the cops or tell animal control to go to court. Animal control is suposed to take animals if they are getting abused/neglected.

Animal control is run by the police enforcement so no luck there. I have contacted over 30 rescues, ASPCA, SPCA, HSUS and any place I could think of. Still waiting for resonses. I figure if enough outraged people call and complain that they will be more likely to take action for fear of bad publicity. This county is already known to be lazy and negligent. Sadly the police are often completely useless no matter what the crime is. If I can get everyone to post this information and picture on FB and other forums then we might be able to make a difference. Please please please repost this anywhere and everywhere you can! Thanks!!

In all honesty? He doesn't look that horrible.
If horses have food, shelter, and water, there isn't much animal control CAN do.
Calling and harassing them isn't going to change anything, other then tie up phone lines and annoying the living **** out of them.
It's not like they aren't do anything - they have cases where they are either removing dead bodies or ones that are walking skeletons - these guys, unfortantely, can't be on their radar.
They also don't have an unlimited supply of workers, volunteers, money, or hay. They're control officers, not miracle workers.

Why don't you go and see WHY they are like this? What is their owners situation? Are they elders? Financial problems? Health issues?
Maybe they just need a hand instead of being slammed?
Perhaps neighbours, instead of sitting by idly and making phone calls, can make a day where they can donate time and get feed trimmed and horses dewormed.

I don't like making judgement calls when I don't know what the situation is, but...

Is there more to the story? Except for the feet, they honestly look like at 3/4 on the body scale and I don't think animal control goes in when its a 3/4. Maybe the pic just isnt showing how bad it is?

Oh purlease! This is nothing, the horse is a little underweight, and overdue for a trim, but there is nothing dire about the situation.

Green Broke
If AC is not taking action it is because the conditions do not meet actionable criteria per the local statutes - if you have an issue with that focus on changing the statutes to suit your standards *shrugs*

It honestly isn't that bad, at least for what it shows in this picture. The horse still has muscle and it is not to the point where it is too weak to walk around. If the horse has food and water and shelter, all the owners really need to do, or even someone else, is get its feet trimmed, feed it a little more, deworm and let it gain back its weight.

Unless you have another picture that makes it look a lot worse then what this picture shows, Animal Control will not come as it does not make it bad enough for them to come out.
