Annoyed with myself.. nothing to do about it :(

Where to begin?
2007- Jan 2, hand a pretty nasty fall from a cob, who jumped me and kicked my shoulder from behind. This resulted in a dislocated shoulder, AC joint and fractured humerus.
1 operation and 3 metal rods later, 8 months no riding. Then after 8 months, rods are removed.

Over the last 5 years I've had on/off issues with it. Maybe once a month- 6 weeks I tweak it by accident and its tender for a couple of days.

Two weeks ago, walking my dog, he pulled. I've been in a lot of pain since, my neck, shoulder and back area.

I went to the physio yesterday.

Messed up is an understatement. The muscles have attached wrong, and the sack of fluid that should be between my AC joint and a muscle to stop it banging is 90% gone, hence why I can only lift my arm so high and then it won't budge. The swelling needs to go down, MRI scan, and possible operation.

But this is really effecting my riding now. I can barely ride on the left hand side as I concave my upper body and make her go outside and I am literally being thrown in to the wall the whole time, and barn figures are useless.

Any ideas? Another rider isn't an option, and if I don't sell her... do I wait and hold off the op till its warmer and they're out 12hrs a day so she's getting out, or just go for it and work with her and however she is when I'm sorted?

Yours truly

A miserable Duffy :(

I feel for you!! JMO, if you're financially able to keep her, I would. Horses are good physical therapy. Why can't another rider be an option? Even if it's just every once in awhile. I would make sure all of your options are exhausted before having surgery (not sure what you've all done), but I'd try everything, a nutritionist, accupuncture, chiro, massage, PT, etc. But if you feel surgery is the only way, sooner is better than later, who knows what else can make it worse from now to then.

Just do what you can with her when you can for now. GOOD LUCK!! Keep us posted.

Financially, no issues at all.. but she's the sort that if she doesn't get the daily work becomes.. a handful.

I have spoken to my trainer about this, and she said there is no one on the yard that has firm enough legs and soft enough hands for her, and she will more than likely introduce them in to sticky seat riding... unless I advertised outside the barn if it came to that..

Acupuncture.. the last time I broke three of the needles! I will be trying everything if I can before op....thanks though x

Sounds like me, LOL. My chiro is seriously thinking of writing a case story on me for some type of chiro journal (shrugs). Just hang on to an electric fence for awhile before going for accupuncture, you should be loose enough then

I hate work at the moment as I'm sat at a desk= the longer the day drags, the more bloody pain!

Anyone have a spare left shoulder...?

No, but you can have my right one (my left one is shot too), just flip it over, LOL. I'll trade you for a new set of knees and a lower back.
