I will say that the rebel flag is still pretty controversial in parts of the deep South. And that sometimes the connotation of the rebel flag design isn't well known once you get out of the South.

Let's just say that down here in Mississippi.. it isn't always used as just a 'nod to history'.

There aren't words for that type of idiot.

Not going to comment on the rebel flag deal..everyone has opinions.

Really ...? This is the Mississippi State Flag..

It can be what you make of it. I LOVE the rebel flag. I LOVE being from the south. I LOVE that I had 4 great grandfathers that fought in the Civil War.

I also love my best friend .. who happens to be black.

Hatin' on someone because of their education or social class is nearly as tasteless as making fun or hating them because of their skin color.. imo.

I'm thankful they are selling her...

High five texasgal! That's what I was going to lean towards in my post.. I LOVE the fact I'm from the south, I'm **** proud of where I come from, and I have a Dixie Outfitter's tag on the front of my car, which has a rebel flag across two pepper's saying "Dixie's Red Hot".The rebel flag is MORE of just a southern thing now than it is a racist thing. People make it what they want to, I have black friends who hunt, mud bog, and everything just like I do, that wear rebel flag stuff..Because it's not about racism anymore..it's a way of life in the south and represents that..

If we want to blame something from the south for making us look bad someone PLEASE don't try to say the rebel flag is worse than Honey Boo Boo.. I am ASHAMED to admit that family lives like 20 minutes from me. They make the south look terrible..

I'm a southern girl myself, if you didn't notice LOL. Proud of it. Not making fun.. it was just icing on the cake. I certainly wouldn't walk around in Montgomery (where I live) waving a rebel flag.

Anyways... the point wasn't the rebel flag.. it was the entire ad. Thank goodness they are selling that poor baby.

I have tons of stuff with rebel flags on it! When I moved to Mississippi though (from Texas, I might add) I ran into a lot of people who either made judgements about me based on it, or would start arguments about it. So I just stopped using that stuff for the most part. I guess maybe it depends on your area, but it seems more people take it as a 'racist thing' down here. And its easier to just go on about my day without it :)

About the horse though, which is the main focus of the post, I am glad they are trying to sell her and I hope her fortunes improve. She deserves someone who will keep her fed, and not ask her to work at only 1 1/2. I wish she was closer, I would go and get her :)

That to me is just living your life for someone else..You let other's opinions and what they judge you by make that decision for you.

Oh and texasgal, thanks for pointing out that its also a part of the MS state flag ...
Just because its a part of a flag doesn't mean people in the area see it as tasteful or 'ok'. I have heard a lot of people say negative stuff about that flag in my area. its just not accepted, but I think that's mainly because of the connotations placed upon it in this particular area.

ANYWAYS, I have a saddle blanket that has a giant picture of a Jack Daniels bottle on it. I freaking love that saddle blanket. Would I use it in a picture I was trying to sell my horse in? No. I more than likely would not. Same view about the rebel flag in my mind here. It retracts from the 'professional' business aspect of a 'for sale' photo.

I dont see how it takes away from tge professional aspect as everybody is entitled to their own tack choices and not everyone had a plentiful abundance of pads around.
However i do agree they arent the brightest to be making the poor thing work already.
