Anyone else sad that summer holidays are over?

Well my summer is officially over at the end of this week. That means back to college in the pursuit of MBA glory and no more training horses every day. How on earth will I deal with not being able to see all my favourite horse buddies every day?

On the up side it has been a productive few months: 9 horses broken to ride w/t/c, three OTTB's schooled and off to new homes and various other projects completed for people and their trusty steeds. Oh and my heart has been officially stolen by a little Cremello Quarter horse (unlikely candidate for me) who's forever home is at the same place I board my own personal horse so I still get to see him regularly - phew.

New job requires me to be immaculately dressed in office attire, not sure I can even remember how to walk properly in heels, wonder if my beautiful leather top boots would suffice??

At least I still have my own horse to work with and since I have three day weekends I really can't complain I guess. Anyone else wish there was another month of holidays though? Sorry to everyone who worked all through summer, my worries will fall on deaf ears to you!!

I have one of those darn real jobs that require me to work all year around. So summer being over is almost a relief since I will no longer be stuck in an office while it is lovely outside.


And I must admit, I am chuckling about the transformation from summer barn clothes to having to wear heals. That does not sound fun at all.

Just bought a couple pairs this week, nearly fell over in Nine West as I was trying them out, damn polished floorboards!

I'm not so sad that summer holiday's are over as I just work all year around but I am sad that the nice weather and long nights are coming to an end. Winter sucks and it's sad that we slowly see it approching!

At least when summer finishes it won't be so stinking hot every day - it is far too hot in Houston to be working horses every day! The worst thing about Winter is that daylight hours are severely reduced, thank goodness for floodlights on arenas.

Well no, it will not be too hot, but I have to deal with snow. Lots of freaking snow. It is a tough call which is worse.

Well I guess it comes down to the choice between heat stroke and hypothermia. After having heat stroke twice at the beginning of summer (learnt the hard way that it is not a good idea to work more than three horses in the afternoon here in Texas) I would be willing to give hypothermia a try and see which is worse. No deal on frostbite though, I value all my fingers and toes.
