I do hope this is an okay board for this topic, pardon my newbieness =]
Anyways, I had a miniature filly born this year. Her sire was a black/white tobiano and her dam was a bay snowflake appy that went grey. When Dixie was born she was a dun with a dorsal, shoulder patches and cobb webbing on her face. I was pretty sure she would shed out her dun factor and become a bay. Expect she had a nearly black undercoat. When she was 3 months old I body clipped her and she came out sorta a greyish brownish roan color. I don't always determine a horses color when there body clipped as it can really change it. For example, my deep blood bay stallion body clips out a really light buckskin color. Anyways, now that her winter hair is starting to come in, it's like a tannish brownish color like she was when she was born. BUT then I find patches of new hair coming in black! It's the oddist thing. I'm not talking about her black points, I am talking about on her rump and back. Does anyone have any idea what color she may be? I thought maybe a light bay with a lot of counter shading on her back, but I don't believe it is. It's too spotchy. Does anyone have an idea??
Dixie - one Day old
Dixie - 5 Months (before getting winter coat)
