My answers:

1. Most difficult horse you’ve ridden and why?
We once had a horse at the barn who was super sour to going in the gate. THAT horse was so far ruined, it took us months to get him back to walking in calmly. We had to totally re-bit and re-train him. Before he had been ridden in a mule mouth ( I HATE those bits...) and took four people to get him into an arena. At the end of the training he went in the gate and made his run in a smooth jr. Cowhorse!

2. Describe you and your horse’s connection.
It's...surreal. Selena and I have had a huge amount of problems. She spent all of last season trying to kill me. But ever since we started barrel racing with her she's so focused, so loving, wants to try in everything she does. This year I showed her in Dressage, Working Rancher, Western Horsemanship, Hunt Seat Eq, and Reining with no fits like before. I feel like we have really become a team.

3. Western or english saddles, why?
Both! :) I think they both work differant muscles and are wonderful for the rider.

4. Least favourite breed, why?
Hmm...I don't hate any breed, but I'm not a fan of thoroughbreds. Especially the ones bred in America, such skinny things. But I love me a good Aussie thoroughbred!

5. Biggest horse pet peeve.
When a horse cribs or rakes their teeth across stall doors/trailers/panels >.>

6. Describe your ideal horse.
One with grit, try, heart and guts! I'd take that over bloodlines any day.

7. Have you ever been scared to get on a horse? If so, why?
Yes. Some horses I have ridden have been very scary because they were dangerous. But I knew I had to ride them, otherwise I'd be scared forever. On top of that, my trainer tore her rotator cuff so she had the teens riding most of the young horses.

8. Most expensive piece of tack you own.
Well, probably my bridle. As far as bridles go, it was expensive! O.o

9. Boots or polo wraps?
Boots. I believe in polos for support but they are way too time consuming and easy to screw up, I'd rather play it safe with all four supports and bells or front supports and hind skids.

10. Trail riding or ring work?
Ring work. Love trails but I would rather play in the arena.

11. Favourite tack brand.
Classic Equine

12. How tall is your horse?
Selena: 13.3, Rebel: 15.0, Ruger: 15.0, Jester: 14.0

13. Do you prefer short or tall horses?
Depends. I love a short, catty cow pony but I also just LOVE big horses.

14. Cowboy, paddock, or tall boots?
Cowboy! :) Although my paddock boots are sooo comfy.

15. What’s your horse’s registered name/show name?
Leana Little, Exclusive Gunshow, Kritik Rebellion, and Jesters Cowboy

16. Any nicknames for your horse?
Selenie-weanie, Rugey-roo, Rebby-face/Rebzilla, Jes/Jessie.

17. Worst medical issue you’ve had to deal with, horse wise?
Well it may not be the worst, but it was the hardest to deal with. Jester has OCD in his left stifle and a bone spur that forced early retirement. It was painful to admit that such a talented horse couldn't compete anymore.

18. Worst fall?
When I was five years old my horse got stung by bees and threw me on the trail.

19. Ever ridden side saddle?
I've goofed off and rode "side saddle" in my western saddle, but never officially.

20. Ever ridden a saddleseat horse?
Yep! It was super cool!

21. Where was your horse born?
Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, and New York

22. What was your horse bred for?
Reined Cowhorse, Roping/Ranch work, and Rebel is endurance bred.

23. Does your horse load well?
Yep! Most of them all you have to do is point and they go in.

24. How many saddles do you have?
Seven

25. Nylon or leather halters? Why?
Nylon for casual, leather for show.

26. Ever ridden a mechanical bull?
Yes! It was a blast!

27. What discipline are you least experienced in?
English, jumping. I can jump but I never got a structural foundation.

28. Indoor or outdoor arena?
Outdoor

29. Is your horse push-button?
Jester is, none of the others are.

30. Ever taught a lesson?
I've taught many lessons.

31. Bareback or under saddle?
Bareback

32. Green horses or push button?
Push button...I've ridden too many green horses, I want a break! XD

33. Favourite coat colour?
I love a good grey, or roan. Even better if its a paint!

34. What breed have you always wanted to ride?
A big ol' draft. :)

35. Most recent fall?
I haven't really fallen since fourth grade when Jester decided to jump sideways at something, and left me behind. LOL, but I have bailed off a few times.

1. Most difficult horse you've ridden and why?
My own mare Molly, ironically. She's incredibly hot and requires a lot of seat and leg control to ride.

2. Describe you and your horse’s connection.
I love that Excel has so much trust in me when we ride. I took him XC schooling at novice level the other day and though he was terrified of some of the obstacles, it took no more than a closed leg and soft hand for him to be confident to the fence.

3. Western or english saddles, why?
Depends. I ride both, so it depends on what horse I'm riding.

4. Least favourite breed, why?
Probably Shetlands. Nasty little buggers! Of course there's good Shetlands, but the majority I've met are evil little things.

5. Biggest horse pet peeve.
Cribbing. God, does this drive me nuts!

6. Describe your ideal horse.
17.2hh Irish Sport Horse, big-boned but leggy, lovely dappled bay with a ton of jumping scope.

7. Have you ever been scared to get on a horse? If so, why?
Excel scared me a bit when I took him to the fairgrounds to practice a few weeks ago after a month off. We had a lot of spinning, bucking, dancing around, and rushing, but I wouldn't say I was scared.

8. Most expensive piece of tack you own.
Are we talking relatively? If so, that would be my $309 jumper bridle. If we're talking overall, it would be my Courbette dressage saddle, which retails for $1850.

9. Boots or polo wraps?
Polos for flatwork, boots for anything else.

10. Trail riding or ring work?
Trail riding, if that's what you would call it. When we trail ride, we condition, which means 2+ hours of trot/canter/gallop work.

11. Favourite tack brand.
Premier Equine or Professional's Choice.

12. How tall is your horse?
14.3, 15.3, 16.2, and 16.3. Oh, and 9.0

13. Do you prefer short or tall horses?
Tall. I'm pretty leggy myself and like a big-strided horse with a big barrel.

14. Cowboy, paddock, or tall boots?
Cowboy boots. I always school, English and Western, in cowboy boots.

15. What’s your horse’s registered name/show name?
Soleil Rouge (show)/Excel (reg.), Molly's Cat, Lenox, Sir Arthur

16. Any nicknames for your horse?
*sshole when Arthur cribs. Wexy for Excel.

17. Worst medical issue you’ve had to deal with, horse wise?
A few colic attacks (one fatal), and a founder (horse was leased out). Also a miscarriage where we almost lost the mare, who happens to be the mare that died of colic.

18. Worst fall?
Haven't had any bad falls, knock on wood. 99% of the time I land standing up with the reins in hand.

19. Ever ridden side saddle?
Nope

20. Ever ridden a saddleseat horse?
Yes, at camp in second grade

21. Where was your horse born?
One in OH, one in PA, one in NY, and one in FL

22. What was your horse bred for?
Two for racing, one for the Amish, and one for gaited trail riding

23. Does your horse load well?
All four exceptionally well. One refuses to unload backwards, though.

24. How many saddles do you have?
Seven. And one butt, go figure!

25. Nylon or leather halters? Why?
Nylon with breakaway crownpieces for around the barn, leather for show

26. Ever ridden a mechanical bull?
Might be in a few weeks!

27. What discipline are you least experienced in?
Saddleseat

28. Indoor or outdoor arena?
Outdoor

29. Is your horse push-button?
Hah! That's funny, right there....

30. Ever taught a lesson?
Yes

31. Bareback or under saddle?
Depends

32. Green horses or push button?
Green, much more fun

33. Favourite coat colour?
Dappled bay

34. What breed have you always wanted to ride?
Irish Sport Horse or Hanoverian

35. Most recent fall?
Last week. Hacking Excel and a bunch of turkeys went by, so I leaned down to pat him for being good and another flew out of the soy beans in front of us. Landed on my feet, reins in hand

Foal
1. Most difficult horse you’ve ridden and why?
Probably my own boy, Raider. He's incredibly sensitive when it comes to seat/leg/hands, but can me extremely stubborn, and to top it all off extremely intelligent.

2. Describe you and your horse’s connection.
Paige was my first horse, got her when I was 7. The first day I officially owned her she took off, ear's pinned at the mare in the run over, kicked her in the neck, than came back nuzzled my neck. She stood between me and that mare whenever I went into her stall and watched me constantly when I was in eyesight, when I wasn't she'd whinny like crazy. Had several people comment to my parents that she acted like I was her foal.

3. Western or english saddles, why?
Bareback! But I like to ride in both, to develop and expand my riding.

4. Least favourite breed, why?
Don't really have one? Maybe shetlands from the stories my grandma has told me.

5. Biggest horse pet peeve.
Not standing still when tied.

6. Describe your ideal horse.
One with heart and good, strong and intelligent mind
.
7. Have you ever been scared to get on a horse? If so, why?
When I was very young (7), and first started getting back into riding my lesson horse tried to buck me off when I was riding bareback, I didn't fall but it shook my confidence for awhile, but it made me a stronger rider.

8. Most expensive piece of tack you own.
My new custom barrel saddle that should be here in 28 days! Cost $2300.

9. Boots or polo wraps?
Polo wraps for everyday, boots for hard work and showing.

Nothing beats and good, relaxing trail ride with friends.

Raider through me into a steel welded fence at a dead gallop. Twice in the same night.

Bareback, jacking around when I was young.

23. Does your horse load well?
Paige was flipped in a slant load, but I've worked with her a bunch so she loads well, but doesn't back out well. She's a freight train. J.J doesn't because of her leg. The rest of them you just point and they jump in.

Foal
1. Most difficult horse you’ve ridden and why?
Of all horses my 13.1 hand barrel pony. Oh lordy, cute as a button and sharp as a tack but he was an absolute terror to get through the gate. I had to retrain him and have him realize he didn't have to run his butt off every time he set foot in an arena. Still hesitates occassionally but doesn't need ponied in anymore and doesn't rear. He's also gaited (paces and racks) and I retrained him as a hunter w/t pony.

2. Describe you and your horse’s connection.
Rocky, it's a love-hate relationship. He fractured my arm last summer when he decided he'd rather run than load in the trailer (after loading like a champ several dozen times in the same trailer)... Love him to death, but unfortunately we're putting him up for sale so I can progress with my h/j horses.

Chief, my little appaloosa "hony" will try his little heart out for me no matter what I ask. He's my baby boy and a permanent resident. He's built "cute," nothing fancy conformation wise and he never will be "super fancy" but he will get his 14.2 1/2 (just shy of pony!) hand frame into a big boy frame and just has such an amazing work ethic. If I ride another horse he will leave the pasture/roundbales/buddies and stand at the fence and watch my entire ride.

3. Western or english saddles, why?
Primarily english but I do show western.

4. Least favourite breed, why?
Friesian.... the ones I've met are dumb as rocks. Also not a fan of gaited horses, but to each their own.

5. Biggest horse pet peeve.
Getting a bigger bit to "solve" a problem.
People that need to step off their high horse 'cause they can't even handle the pony.

6. Describe your ideal horse.
HEART. Above anything else, I want a horse that WANTS to please. The most gorgeous, flashiest, talented horse is worthless in my book if it doesn't care to try.

7. Have you ever been scared to get on a horse? If so, why?
My friend's horse that was known to flip (yep, guess how I came off), and most recently, Kali. She's violently bucked off everyone that's sat on her without giving them a second thought. Absolutely adores me though.

8. Most expensive piece of tack you own.
Probably my Circle Y show saddle.

9. Boots or polo wraps?
Boots.

10. Trail riding or ring work?
Ring work, but I LOVE trail riding.

11. Favourite tack brand.
Hmm... Circle Y and Billy Cook for western.
Stubben, Collegiate for english.

12. How tall is your horse?
9.3hh, 13.1hh, 14.2hh, 16.1hh

13. Do you prefer short or tall horses?
Either really LEGGY horses, or stocky ponies!

14. Cowboy, paddock, or tall boots?
Cowboy boots at home, tall boots or cowboy boots at shows.

15. What’s your horse’s registered name/show name?
Will register Kali as either Bold Move or Take A Chance.

16. Any nicknames for your horse?
Turdbaby, Buttmunch, Goober, Chiefsies, Rocks, Ponyboy

17. Worst medical issue you’ve had to deal with, horse wise?
None so far except for two very minor lamenesses (in 7 years with 2 different horses) knock on wood...

18. Worst fall?
Either being flipped over or having the horse's legs give out at the canter.

19. Ever ridden side saddle?
Tried it bareback!

20. Ever ridden a saddleseat horse?
Nope

21. Where was your horse born?
As far as I know-All in Indiana.

22. What was your horse bred for?
I have three grade horses, and my mare's dam was a winning racehorse. Her sire was a solid bred foundation paint. Somehow that turned into a gorgeous hunter!

23. Does your horse load well?
Chief, Rebel, Rocky-yes. Kali-we're working on it, but usually yes.

24. How many saddles do you have?
2 western, 5 english

25. Nylon or leather halters? Why?
Nylon because I love rope halters. I will not trailer in a rope halter however.

26. Ever ridden a mechanical bull?
Yep!

27. What discipline are you least experienced in?
Western.. specifically? I'd LOVE to sit on a well trained reiner or cutter some day!

28. Indoor or outdoor arena?
Doesn't matter as long as there's nice footing.

29. Is your horse push-button?
Rocky you just point him at a pattern. Chief for the most part, yes.

30. Ever taught a lesson?
Not "officially" as I didn't get paid, but yes, I gave a horsey friend a few free lessons on Chief.

31. Bareback or under saddle?
Under saddle usually-I didn't get my famous super glue butt riding in a saddle!

32. Green horses or push button?
Green, I love teaching horses and problem-solving and altering my methods to that specific horse.

33. Favourite coat colour?
I love tall, dark and handsome anything. But I do love buckskins.

34. What breed have you always wanted to ride?
Any draft!!!

35. Most recent fall?
January-I was riding my friend's TWH and trying to sort out his canter, then his back legs slipped out and we literally slammed into the ground. One of the scariest things every and took my brain a second to process that I was still in the saddle but the ground was coming up fast.

1. Most difficult horse you’ve ridden and why?
Her name was Little Sis and she had a bucking problem, she was green, and was also lame (I know.. this was before I knew it was a big no no) and we usually rode together well but a few times she tried stuff on me and once got me off by bucking and then slamming on her brakes.. I went flying and landed on my head. Not fun.

2. Describe you and your horse’s connection.
Well when I was there, we were like equals. He respected me; I respected him. He'd do as I asked and we helped each other become more confident and grew in skill.

Now when he hears my name or my voice over the phone, he becomes curious and my friend tells me it's like he's looking for where I am but he can't find me. I have no idea.. I just miss him.

3. Western or english saddles, why?
English, specifically my Dressage Saddle. It is so comfortable and I feel a lot closer to my horse. Western saddles so far have caused me to sit funnily and feel like I'm on a pedestal.

4. Least favourite breed, why?
I don't have one, sorry.

5. Biggest horse pet peeve.
Cribbing.. just seeing a horse do that gives me the creeps :/

6. Describe your ideal horse.
One that challenges me but never bails on me or acts aggressively.

After I seriously fell off, I just had reservations about getting on.

Oh. This sounds fun!

1. Most difficult horse you’ve ridden and why?
I'd have to say that so far, Squiggy is the most difficult horse I've rode. Why? Because she is a lot of horse, and requires all of my available skill to ride, and pushes for more almost every ride. I've had to learn so many things the hard way on her back.
2. Describe you and your horse’s connection.
We've learned so much together, I got her when she was an untouched yearling, and I've been her only rider (save a couple rides here and there, a total of about 3 over 2 years). And we have done so much in 2 years that I've had to trust her with, and she's had to trust me with.
3. Western or english saddles, why?
I like both, but I'm the most comfortable in a western saddle because I've done almost all of my riding in one.
4. Least favourite breed, why?
I'm really no fan of Arabs. Not enough substance for me :)
5. Biggest horse pet peeve.
Riders who have chicken flapping elbows/arms.
6. Describe your ideal horse.
Someday, I want a dark grey appendix Quarter Horse. Preferably a mare. And of course, I'd be pleased if she had some good brains.
7. Have you ever been scared to get on a horse? If so, why?
No, because I know that if I'm scared, the horse will feel it and will make my fear into a wreck.
8. Most expensive piece of tack you own.
My Master Saddlery roping saddle, I believe it's worth no less that $3,000.
9. Boots or polo wraps?
Boots, I havent had the chance to try polo's.
10. Trail riding or ring work?
Neither. I prefer all of my "arena training" out in an open field.
11. Favourite tack brand.
Teskeys.
12. How tall is your horse?
She's about 15.3hh at the moment, might be 16hh now.
13. Do you prefer short or tall horses?
Being a tall person, I like tall horses
14. Cowboy, paddock, or tall boots?
Cowboy boots please!
15. What’s your horse’s registered name/show name?
Doesn't have one. She's a mutt.

"Honey-baby" "Fatty" "Beastie"
17. Worst medical issue you’ve had to deal with, horse wise?
Gaping wounds on legs.
18. Worst fall?
Squiggy bucking me off and breaking my arm.
19. Ever ridden side saddle?
Nope.
20. Ever ridden a saddleseat horse?
Nope.
21. Where was your horse born?
In a pasture with some cattle and a small herd of mares.
22. What was your horse bred for?
Ranch work and speed events.

Only for me!

Nylon
26. Ever ridden a mechanical bull?

29. Is your horse push-button?
Hahahahahaa nope.
30. Ever taught a lesson?
Yes
31. Bareback or under saddle?
Bareback if I can.
32. Green horses or push button?

Green Broke
1. Most difficult horse you’ve ridden and why?
Hmm..I'm not sure, I've never had a horse that I just couldn't do anything with..

2. Describe you and your horse’s connection.
It varies from horse to horse.. Nikki and I are a team, I've had that "team" bond with her more so than any other horse. I absolutely trust her to go in the arena and work for me. I've never trusted or got along with a horse more than I do Nikki. She's definitely my main girl..
Hickory is my baby, yes he is spoiled. Even if he's irritating and he constantly tries me, he's a one person horse and will let you know it. He is a horse that gets his feelings hurt very easily, he's very jealous and thinks he should be the center of my attention..Not Nikki or Lark.
Lark is my sweet heart. If I just feel like hopping on bareback and going for a stroll I know I can count on her to do whatever I want. She is so sweet and just seems to understand when I need a hug or to just stand there and relax for a few. She will ride well for anyone and you can just tell that if you really work with her and her trust issues she will give her all to you and take care of you.

7. Have you ever been scared to get on a horse? If so, why?
A pony..A stud pony at that. He was a 13hh **** eater with an attitude..and quick, and by quick I mean he was quick to try to rub you off or get out from under you..It was hard to stay on him because he was so little and quick..Hated that little sucker.

Yearling
1. Most difficult horse you’ve ridden and why?

Hmm, hard decision. Maybe Junior. He was a bit unbalanced and kind of lazy. I rode him two weeks in a row and managed to fall off of him both times.

2. Describe you and your horse’s connection. (Just so you know I'll be using my lease horse for the "your horse" questions).

The more I ride and interact with him, the more I like him, and the more he seems to trust and respect me.

3. Western or english saddles, why?

English, I just prefer them.

4. Least favourite breed, why?

I don't really have a least favorite breed.

5. Biggest horse pet peeve.

Another tough one, . At the end of the day, I have to say horses that JUST. WON'T. GO. FORWARD. I get so frustrated so quickly with these types of horses.

6. Describe your ideal horse.

Six or seven year old gelding, sensitive to aids, fiery personality with a lot of "get up and go", loves jumping and is talented at it, very athletic and appealing to the eyes.

7. Have you ever been scared to get on a horse? If so, why?

No, I don't think so.

8. Most expensive piece of tack you own.

Probably my $30 saddle pad that I got for Christmas.

9. Boots or polo wraps?

Boots, mostly because they're easier to put on. I'm a little nervous putting on polos because I'm afraid I'll mess it up.

10. Trail riding or ring work?

Ring work.

11. Favourite tack brand.

I don't own enough tack to know .

12. How tall is your horse?

I don't know...probably around 15 hh.

13. Do you prefer short or tall horses?

Tall horses!

14. Cowboy, paddock, or tall boots?

Paddock.

15. What’s your horse’s registered name/show name?

Skip-A-Roo.

16. Any nicknames for your horse?

Skip, Skippy.

17. Worst medical issue you’ve had to deal with, horse wise?

Colic.

18. Worst fall?

When I was bucked off of Junior. Got a bone bruise out of the deal and my knee kept swelling off and on for a while after that. Knocked the wind out of me at the time and my father was pretty scared when he saw me fall. Whenever someone says watching their child ride makes him nervous, he'll say, "Wait until you see them flying through the air!" lol.

19. Ever ridden side saddle?

Nope, I'd like to try it, though!

20. Ever ridden a saddleseat horse?

Nope.

21. Where was your horse born?

I have no clue!

22. What was your horse bred for?

Again, no idea.

23. Does your horse load well?

He doesn't put up a huge fight, but he does protest a little.

24. How many saddles do you have?

None *sad face* .

25. Nylon or leather halters? Why?

At the barn? Nylon, they do their job well enough. Show? Leather, definitely. They just look so much more professional than the nylon type!

26. Ever ridden a mechanical bull?

No, I'd like to, though!

27. What discipline are you least experienced in?

Anything Western.

28. Indoor or outdoor arena?

Outdoor.

29. Is your horse push-button?

No.

30. Ever taught a lesson?

No, I hope to one day, though :).

31. Bareback or under saddle?

Under saddle.

32. Green horses or push button?

Push button.

33. Favourite coat colour?

Hmm...it changes every few weeks lol! This week it is a nice dark bay featuring LOTS of chrome :).

34. What breed have you always wanted to ride?

A morgan.

35. Most recent fall?

I was doing stirrupless work in the field and Skippy spooked at a bird. I went off to the side. It didn't hurt at all and I didn't even have any sore muscles after that.
