Arab nationals!

So Arab Nationals are in my hometown this week, anyone here competing? My friend is a manager at one of the major tack shops here and asked me to help her in her shop trailer as one of the vendors! All I have to say is, WOW. Arabs are not my favorite breed (hey, i'm entitled to my opinion!) but I have to say, these are the most beautiful Arabs I've ever seen (one of them apparently was bought for 5 million...) The stall curtains make the most prestigious h/j shows I've been to look like a joke (can't say i've ever seen chandeliers, champagne, and plasma tvs as the norm) And I'm having a blast trying to figure out what the heck "Country English Pleasure" is and keep myself from laughing outloud when the announcer tells the Western Pleasure people to "hand gallop". Tons of fun so far! Any arab people out there?

Each breed is so unique in the way they run their shows...glad you are getting to experience arabs at such a phenominal show!

What a great opportunity!

I'm a QH guy but have always admired the Arabian. In fact I just took one in on a trade. A very stocky little grey.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just explaining why I'm right.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

It's not always what you say but what they hear.

thanks kickshaw for that great explanation! that does explain a lot. All I know is I am totally out of my element as it is an entirely new world for me, but it has been a lot of fun so far! iridehorses, i'm not an arab person AT ALL. The Arabs I've had to deal with weren't the best of the species nor were the brightest. So it's nice to see some good sane horses that are the best the breed has to offer. Not planning on ever owning one but well, i guess they aren't all bad....

Sounds like you are having heaps of fun then!! I ride arabs! But not in shows. I do endurance and that's not about looks just speed and stamina and it's usually the ugliest horses that seem to do the best! ;)

Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole and, once it has done so, he will have to accept that his life will be radically changed.

I'm not an arab person but I show at the arab shows because they have a circuit here local that has 2 day shows that are great practice for my QH... judging is surprisingly similar....
