BACK STABBED, PLOTTED AGAINSTS!***Need to vent BIG time* **

This is just really making me mad and kinda want to leave my barn its 50/50 So heres what happend....

I asked my BO about turn out, (couple months ago)she told me that I could turn her out in thies feilds.

#1. Hill going up to old barn, but have to have two horses.
#2. The orchard feild. (one I use mostly)
#3. A padock when ones open which one is NEVER open.
#4. Close the main gate and she can be around the barn.

So my BO has been away at horse clinics, and weve been working. Well she wrote on the board that gypsy would get the orchard feild for turnout. I got to the barn to work and Ashley was riging her old horse and she had her new one in the feild so I couldnt turn gypsy out. No big deal I can just wait till she is done riding and brings the horse in so I can turn her out, right?

WELL by the time she was done I had already finsihed most of my stalls and had only two left! And she put T the one she was riding in the feild! SO I was like "well since I only have two stalls left and theirs not really any point in waiting for the feild I'll just let Gypsy out around the barn." She told me I could bring T in and put her out. Well whats the point of that!

So I let her out around the barn. The two left would only take about 10 mins to finish. Then ashley tells me that gypsy is up by the horses. (shes in season) so I fixed that by tieing hot wire so she can't go by. I turn her back out I have 1 and a half stalls to do. Gypsy was fine she didnt bug anyone she just ate grass.

THEN OH this is where it gets annoying THEN my BO call my mom in the morning says she dosent want any TROUBLE horses out like that! GUESS WHO TOLD HER! FLIPPIN ASHLEY! So I don't know what she told her but what ever. But my BO wanted to know if it was mine or her idea to put gypsy out there, probably wondering why she didnt have the feild.

WEll that day that she called, when we went to the barn to clean and she was leaving to another clinic. She was I dunno rushed running late. But she didnt confront me about it or any thing like that. I didnt really talk to her either. Then she leaves. We say bye and stuff good luck blah blah and that was it.

THEN Ashley comes right after she left. I was in the arena and heard her b/f say in like a 'in your face' "no horses around the barn other then gracie or goldie" Ashley didnt say anything. So then when we were doing our stalls side by side. She asks so how was cassie, was she nice, what did she say? I told her all cassie said was she was talking to Kelly and told her that she was out of vitimens and that gus wasnt going to the clinic with her, and that she was in a rush to leave. " Oh, well that's wierd"

SO here is when I get my AH-HA moment, my lick and chew.
SHE WAS SNIFFING AROUND TO SEE IF I GOT IN TROUBLE! IF I GOT YELLED AT! SHE TRIED TO SET ME UP! PUSH ME UNDER THE BUS! Why els would there be a reason to tell cassie that gyspy was out around the barn for a whole 10 MINS! RRRRR can you beilive that! And I thought I was starting to make a friend out there!

Now here is where I need help. Should I tell my BO what happend and how I feel or just let it go? I'll be seeing her tomorrow.....
If I do tell her I would say im sorry and the only reason why I did that was one you said I could and two the feild was taken!

AND YOU KNOW WHAT. IF YOUR HORSE WAS 25 YRS OLD AND YOU JUST GOT DONE WORKING HIM I don't THINK YOU SHOULD BE PUTTING HIM OUT IN A FEILD TO EAT GRASS AND COOL OFF! Ahahahaahahahahahaah IM SO MAD! Help?

And another thing. I've never really fit into this barn, I've always felt like the lame nerd-o-lay loser. And I don't like how I get in trouble by my BO and "yeld" at even tho im 19. But I can handle that. Its work big deal. But to set the working part aside. I try to have friends out there. And this is the best barn in my area. Its either going to be I find a new place or I just become even more angry and put up a huge wall and not make any friends and if they do confront me at any point im going to blow up, cause all I do is let people push me around and bottle things up until I can't take it anymore! And then someone will get hurt and it aint going to be me!

Wow I really need to get this out before/if I talk to my BO

And you know this and cavycages.com is the only place I have some what of friends. Im on here lots of times trying to chat and stuff! So thanks for reading my rant...

Ick. I've only boarded at a couple "real" riding facilities so I haven't really experienced what you are going through. I remember in highschool my friends that boarded at a barn used to have some really nasty fights for the same reason, they had no turn-out. They were allowed like a couple hours a day per horse and they used to run into each others times all the time. And it used to get REALLY ugly.

I think you should do what you planned, play innocent and apoligize to the BO, tell her, I'm really sorry, the fields were taken and you had said it was ok to turn out around the barn if htere wasnt' anywhere else. And see what she says. You need to know if you are going to be treated like a "stepchild" or as if you belong. You don't want to be somewhere that you are only considered "the help" or some loser. You know? You don't need someone ruining your day everytime you come to the barn because you'll get to where you don't want to be there and that's not cool at all.

Is there shelter in these paddocks? I wonder if you could get all night turn out during the summer and stall them during the day? Mine are out 24/7 weather permitting... I think I would hate it if I had to lock them up.... that part really sucks. Do you have any riding buddies there??? I hope it gets better.

Thanks, its already got to where I've dreaded going to the barn and my mom works there with me and that's what we feel like is just the stall cleaners! No there are not any shelters and we can't turn out at night because of the coyotes and the BO is also afraid of horses running throught the hotwire. When I first got there before I bought gypsy she use to sleep outside becuase there wasnt a stall available. Ahsley was my riding buddy we use to go out on trail rides and stuff. Like almost every sunny day. I don't know what happened. I guess I will talk to the BO. I just don't know how to handle Ashley. Because she is like all nice and hey you know and then she doews this. And a girl just came back from college I know here and Ashley is dogging on her beucase she is quite and she is all full care bored, what because she works hard and can afford it. But Ashley says that if she's out there she should do her own stall not like it matters to her she dosent have to clean it. But she calls kelly at spoiled brat. Maybe I should tell the BO that to! Throw ahsley under the bus. Man this can get really ugly like you said....

Time with your horse is supposed to be good not full of angst-i agree keep it simple and nice with the BO and find a place where you and your animals fit it-this stuff is very common with boarding.
Don't burn bridges with the BO as they tend to all know each other -keeping a good reference is important. Good luck

Growing up I was on my own to pay for board. We have our own property and my horses could be there which I did but for the winter months I wanted to keep riding so I boarded my horse at this (very scary facility) where I would be able to work for my board.

I quickly learned that working at a barn as a stable hand regardless of who you are, never works well with the "regular" clients. It's because of the position you are in. It's unfortunate but that's the way it is.The worst thing is, once you have worked there, even if now you were to become a regular boarder, that image has been set and will still continue to work against you. If you can prevent it, work somewhere else and become a regular boarder.
