    Bare Back!

I have been getting more comfortable with Casino every day and today we tried bare back riding in one of the smaller arenas...I have ridden bare back before...but on A LOT smaller horses. Casino is well over 15 hands and I am...well...5'2. Haha.
But it was AWESOME. I love being able to feel every movement . And I tell ya....she is a mover.
Her owner said that she has never ridden her bare back and that no one since she's owned her has either..so I was a bit nervous at first!

What do you guys think about bare back riding?

I had NO fear when I was younger and rode. I was such an animal lover it was like no animal could do wrong in my eyes.
Luckily I was always around well mannered horses =P
I would have had a wake up call!!
Now watching all the kids around the stables, they are the same way! No fear.

    I miss those days.

I miss those days too. :(

Having loads of confidence, riding anything, jumping anything. My fear (or sense) seems to have appeared since having kids of my own. I'll love to have even just half of it back again.

I ride my pregnant mare Meg bareback, only because she's getting that much of a table top her saddle wont fit anymore.
She's quite comfy, tends to make my legs ache though.

Well my first bareback experience was kinda bad...they put me on a horse that was SUPER bumpy :(
But my horse is very smooth so I love riding her bareback! It's so nice!

Hubby and I usualy have our saddles in the basement in the winter time. It's much warmer to sit directly on the horses back when it's that cold ! In summer we do ride with saddles but we also go for longer rides...

Well, there's the odd day when we get the horses in the pasture that I hopp on an run him back to the gate!

I also belive that riding bareback is the best excercise for a good balance and a good seat!
