Red face Bareback Drill Team ideas?? >>>

Okay so me and a few friends are going to do a bareback quad drill. The colors of our horses are: palomino, buckskin overo, red dun tabino, and sorrel sabino. I am looking for ideas for names, tack colors, theme, etc. We all have matching black jeans, belts, hats and boots. Please take into consideration that the girl who will be riding the palomino is religious and can't show the figure of her legs (she wears gauchos when riding), so no themes like "Lady Godiva" please:) And Indians and hippies are kinda over used, but we can deal. We will use shirts to match the tack, as we will be using this tack: NYLON TACK and we will have black reins. But what color headstalls should we use? Thanks!

you should use white tack, it looks the best on anycolor. I have done a lot of drill and I think if you do a bareback drill team your looking for trouble. If you plan to do high speeds and you have a head on collison some one would really get hurt. But I have seen english drills that look fairly nice and you still get the full look of the horse where a big bulky western saddle isnt in the way, also how do you plan to hold any flags if bareback you would have nothing to attach a flag boot to? As for a theme you should all pic something you really love and put it in a hat and pick that way.

YAY for bareback! Sounds like a great idea. No clue on colors though.
You rest a flag on your foot.

If you're all competant riders, bareback drill isn't really anymore dangerous than regular drill -- Hell, its a lot more safe than jumping horses abreast IMO.

I like leather/black tack. The biggest thing with matching is making sure it all looks uniform. I find that the riders that have simpilier costumes usually look the best. Could you do cowgirls maybe? You could ride in chinks and western gear and stick with the western feel of bareback?

As far as the flag, not sure how you would do that bareback either. The flag is actually attached to your stirrup in pocket of sorts not resting on your foot and is akward enough to carry without trying to figure it out bareback. You're going to need some creativity there!
However there are plenty of drill teams that do not use flags so that is always an option. Carrying an American flag has a lot of rules to it and it's very easy to "insult" so until you get drill down (not sure how long youve been doing it) I'd skip it. Like I said, flags in general are difficult especially if they're heavy fabric and you're trying to gallop around. I've gotten blinded by a flag more than once o.<

I always ride bareback. Allot safer than saddles IMO. Anyways for our Halloween ride Dealth holds a syth. We rest it on our foot.

Thanks alot for the ideas! I'm already on one team, Home and we only have two people use flags. The coach of that team will be there to help us out, and she is a drill team coach and she knows what she is doing. I do not plan on having flags as that would wind up terribly bareback, I tried it a few years back:P
I'm only letting people ride on it who I know can ride just as well bareback as they can in a saddle. I only know of one girl who will be on it that even has an english saddle.
Black or white tack is a pretty good idea! Black is easy enough to come buy, and white really stands out. We are in Oklahoma, so white tack and red dirt don't allways mix, but heck, when would the horses head be on the ground? Lol
We are only going to do a slow-medium lope (who likes trotting bareback? Especialy those of us with high withered horses d: )
I got blinded by a several layered flag once in a parade..no fun!
