Black Caviar wins 25th straight

I find this quite impressive.

Y! SPORTS

SYDNEY, April 13 (Reuters) - Australian champion thoroughbred Black Caviar banished any remaining doubts of her place as the world's top female sprinter with a storming finish to claim her 25th win in as many races in the TJ Smith Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Roared on by a sell-out crowd of 25,000 Sydneysiders, the six-year-old mare also confirmed her status as one of Australia's greatest horses alongside 1930 Melbourne Cup winner Phar Lap and triple Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva.

That running record includes wins in two countries - Australia and England - as well as 14 Group One wins. Not only has she won 25 races in a row, she only has 25 starts. Her half brother just recently sold for $5 million AUD.

Mods, grant me the serenity to see the opinions I cannot change, courage to change the ones that should change, and the wisdom to spot the trolls.

Pretty proud that this has been picked up overseas! I was a doubter for a while but after she flew to England and won at Royal Ascot even though she wasn't 100% fit and well on the day, I realised she was a genuine champ. Just a pity that she has to run against pretty much the same bunch of horses here every race, she's already proved she's about 4-5 lengths better than any other sprinter in Australia. But we don't have enough big-money sprints here to attract sprinters from the States or elsewhere where there are quality sprinters, especially given the distance.

There's no doubting that she's an amazing horse, but I really hope they stop her soon. She is too valuable to risk, and I am of the belief that one day, she will either be beaten or do herself a serious injury. I was so sure Hay List would get up and beat her some day, but even after spelling for a year, he's really gone downhill.

I can't help but wonder how she would go if they tried her in longer races... If she had this record on the longer tracks, it'd be even more impressive. Sprinters aren't all that big here in Australia, after all. I read an article yesterday comparing Caviar to Phar Lap, and it just doesn't work. They were in two completely different leagues.
