What do you pay for vs what do you get for board??
I know there are price differences along the country and world for boarding. Most of the time, the middle of the country pays less then the two coasts (in the US). Myabe if you want to post some other area board prices it could help.
My horses: $150 each
Two pastures, 4 acres and 6acres lots of grass (estimate)
Two run in stalls with a 10 foot overhang, straw bedding
Timothy hay, maybe last years cut, all they can eat
12% grain, but I can request something different of simmilar price
One feeding per day, we also feed the leasors other animals if needed
I feed 3x a week, leaser does 4x.
will probably go to 2x a day once it gets colder
The leasor will do things if I request it, when she's there. She lives about 20 minutes away. The owners are there all the time, but they're in their 80's and not very horse savvy.
The lessor will give any supplements needed, provided I buy them, and blanket if I ask her too.
Its just my two, and another boarders one horse. I don't think the other boarder even visits. The horse is older, so she isnt ridden.
Leasor is VERY laid back, and willing to do what I want with my horses (feed wise).
She has her own farm as well so she does have lots of advice for me if I ask.
If I get sick I need to find someone to feed for me, but if I give notice the leasor usually will switch days w/ me.
No ring, corn fields for trail riding only, but there is a horse park about 20 minutes away.
No trainers allowed, no one rides my horses but me (liability issue)
The neighbor children (from the development) love to go into the pasture ad pet the animals. I have to yell at them alot, they usually get it, but there are just so many of them. All of the animals are very friendly. I only worry about the ram.
