    Brought them home today!

So, trying to move horses last night didn't go so well. Jewel wouldn't get on trailer so we put her in her stall and decided to make a fresh start this morning. Thanks to my friend Debbie she now knows how to load after her morning's lesson!

After 45 minutes of lunging and being "told" that the trailer is the place to be if she wants to rest, she was hopping on and loading herself like a champ! Silly stubborn mare...well, now that we know what to do she is keeping it up.

Went back to get Nick and hoped for the best, but while he's usually good he can be a stinker once in a while. Of course he kept true to his normal self and walked right in without hesitation. Good thing the big boy likes to go for "car rides" lol.

Horses seem to be settled in pretty well already. They are in their stalls tucked in for the night and eating hay. They were out in the big field grazing on some grass and hay when they got here as well.

    All seems good for now.

Some pics...will try to get more tomorrow

Oh, I know about the noses. I keep Zinc and waterproof baby sunscreen on both of them in the spring/summer. They're usually pretty good in the fall and winter so I don't put it on then.

Well, so far so good still. They ate this morning and went out into the field. They are now back at the run in shed because they wanted hay now instead of the little grass that's left from last summer.

There is a non-active hot wire around the entire fence line and we noticed that my mare won't go near it, or let Nick near it. I think she remembers the hot wire from the first place we bought them and possibly if she had it at other farms before we met her as well. We are getting a solar charger for the fence instead of hooking up the one that's there...but for now she's respecting it cold and making him learn as well.

CONGRATULATIONS!! It's so nice having your horses in your very own back yard. Our barn was built in 2002 and opened in the fall. It's a lot of work, but a lot less stressful, as I full care of my horses. It's nice letting the girls roam free with me in the barn. Except when I'm cleaning Gypsy has to stay in her stall. Funny thing is when she has her spoiled little temper tantrums in the stall. Cause she can't come hang with me. Reason why is Gypsy gets really jealous if I go near other horses(Especially if I go near another mare) she will pick fights through the bars. Gypsy don't like any horse near me when I'm with her, she's 100% cool with them when I'm not around or if she don't see me.
I've been there with horses that won't load, Babe was like that in the early stages. She could be stubborn as a mule if she wanted to be. One day she'll load fine, next she won't, then the next fine again. SO glad she's over that! LOL! She's been fine over the last 7 years. Same thing here with pink noses, Gypsy pretty sensitive skin, keep her nose protected. Air's real dry around here this year.
