Building my confidence back

Not sure where to post this....

Does any know how I may be able to build my confidence back up??

I was thrown from an arabian mare not too long ago, I was riding her in the round pen and asked her for a canter - had never ridden this mare before- she cantered about 3 steps before she turned into a rodeo queen and almost threw me into the round pen gate :( Ever since then my confidece around horses is nothing like it used to be. I was working on building it up before I moved, but now I'm just back where I started....

Any time a horse acts up, get's nervous/scared, fighting with other horses, bolts ect....Even on the ground I get really really nervous, I'm afraid of getting trampled (Had that happen once...), kicked, bit, stepped on, anything like that. I know it's just going to take time, but what can I do to help???

Lots of time, patience and working with trust-worthy horses.

Yep.
Find a horse or two that are super-solid (like kid horses, or lesson horses - whatever!) to work with. Watch little kids ride them, and ride them yourself. Don't feel like you have to work with the more difficult horses to uphold your reputation - that'll just lead to even less confidence on your part.

Find someone who specializes in lessons for children. They'll have nice, quiet horses and lots of patience!

I had a really bad experience with a horse that was advertised as a "bombproof, child-safe, lesson horse". Turned out the idiot selling it, was selling it for a friend and knew NOTHING about it and thought it looked "really kind and quiet". I've been taking lessons with someone who laughs because she gives lessons to a couple dozen 6yr olds and me. She has all the patience in the world and the quietest horses, so it worked very well for me. I'm no longer concerned about riding but there's still plenty she can teach me, so I'm still taking lessons from her.

Delfina -

That's how the arabian mare was advertised! They said that their 70 year old father rode that mare......Not...

Thanks for the advice, I know of a trainer that might be good. I used to go to her when I was 15 or 16, great trainer but was pretty harsh. Gave me a great riding posture though. Thank you guys! : D
