Arrow Can I have your opinion on this?

Hello, well I have moved on to English from Western (I still do Western and still show in Western too).

I have been taking lessons for a while.

My horse in 14.2 and too small for me, but I am not allowed to get a show horse yet.

My instructor told me, due to a green horse only enter Equitation no hunter or pleasure classes.

I learn a ton more as of equitation when I don't ride my pony in the lesson, but my pony learns a lot when she is there.

I go there once a week.

How should I do this?

Thank you! :)

Confused about what you are talking about with you vs. your horse going to lessons. If this is the horse you are going to be riding in the show, you need to ride this horse and learn on it.

As far as the class goes, in HUS pleasure you will get eaten alive on a 14.2 horse. Equitation is better because you will be in the ring alone, and not compared or traveling against the other taller horses. This is a wise strategy.

So your trainer wants you to show, but your horse is too small.

You learn more away from lessons (well duh, you ride more I'm guessing and saddle time is progress :P)

What are you having trouble with.. sticking with this trainer or going ahead to show?

I am having trouble deciding wether I should bring my own pony to get lessons or learn on one of my instructor's horses. Thank you guys! :)

Oh! If you can take lessons, take them!
Can you do both? Learning on as many horses as you can will make you an effective rider since all horses are slightly different.

If you have to haul to a lesson, then maybe your trainer's horses. It would be nice once in awhile to get one on your own pony too.

As of right now, I do haul my horse to my weekly lessons. I do have the oppritunity to ride different horses. I can also bring my horse one week and then the next ride a different horse. My horse also benefits from the lessons as well as I do.

What about 2 or 3 lessons on yours then 1 on your trainers. Get how it should feel practice with your pony.

Will you be selling your pony? If so, lessons will help keep him "tuned up".

I will absolutely never sell my pony. She was my first horse ever and I love her wayy to much.

equitation, instructor, lessons, schedule
