cleaning Halters!

My dad got me a bunch from going on a business trip from a garage sale and he bought a dozen plus we have a dozen more that could use a good wash, I was wondering how? I could have a ton more as I like halters... and have about 40ish for my three horses... and thought I could clean some up and maybe give some away :) but I don't know how to clean them.

So how do you clean halters?

I clean mine in a bucket with Dawn dishsoap. Then I will soak them with some Fabric Softener if they are stiff to soften them back up.

Nylon/web halters or leather? I'm assuming nylon. You can tie them up inside a pillow case and run them through a washing machine (I prefer to use the large industrial machines at the laundromat over my home machine)

I tie them in a sack and throw them in the washer. Sometimes I just throw them in the washer as is.
