Default CLOSE CALL TONIGHT.....

it was storming here tonight, just lightning in the start, the skys were getting a little to dark for my liking..... i live in south west kansas (tornado alley) and it tends to happen a lot....although it hasn't rained in about a month, it's been very dry.

i went out to check on abby and star tonight around 9, walking on the path way to get to the driveway that leads to the barn some thing to the east cought my eye and with in a second the horror sunk in....at first i tried to deturmin what it was...was it the sun setting..no the sun set's in the west not the east. a lightning strike a set a pasture fire about a mile wide and a about 4 miles from our farm....way to close to home....called my neighbour to the west of us to let her know what was going on and with in a 3 minutes i had a trailer and a place for my 2 horses if needed.

my husband i stood and watched the fire for a while and discussed what the next move would be if it was heading out way, the wind was wipping any which way, we own a tractor and was about to dig a fire line to the east..we knew that idoit next door to the east would not turn his center pivet on, he rather lose all his hay then help a town out.

it guess it was in favor because it started to rain, and rain it did thank god...i really don't know what we would of done.....

we're all ok just a little shacken up...my west neighbour and i.... my husdand and i took the hwy today to see where is had started...pretty scarry to see how close it was, it's 50 / 50 toss up to how it started, either a lightning strike or a careless SMOKER tossing a cig out the window, we're going to start plowing out unusedfields this week end on our farm to bring down the change of A) another grass fire and B) the phyco to the east could posably be stupid to burn us out.....it's getting plowed
