So I tried out for the Western equestrian team at Stanford yesterday, and I don't know the results yet, but I will probably get in. The issue that I'm having is the time commitment required for the team. You practice three times a week, have team meetings once a week, do three hours of barn chores each week, help out at horse shows on weekends, compete in horse shows, and have 3 credits of physical training (e.g. Weight training).
I would like to know if anyone else's college equestrian team involves so much work, and would like advice on if I should join or not -- I don't want my grades to suffer, but I really love the horses!
