I'm in Colorado. Wheat Ridge/Golden area to be a little more exact. I'm currently horseless though and am trying to save up for my first horse (though looking at Craigslist ads is not helping me one bit).

Hope everyone got some moisture out of the storm yesterday without any hail or lightening damage. Watching the lightening roll down from the Loveland area for hours was mesmerizing. It started around 5 here and knowing I had until about 9 to get everyone put away and fed, I figured I'd just wait it out. 9:00 came, it was getting dark fast but no break in the lightening. The mares were out cruising the property and the stallion was up on the hill with the boys so I had to go out. Mares had gone back in their pasture but I couldn't see them. It's hard to pick up a pack of black and bay mares in the dark. Stallion who waits by the gate when it's time to go in and has never spent a night out was no where in sight. He comes running when you call but it was too windy plus the lightening for him to hear me. Gave up after 10 minutes and a few big claps of lightening. Had a few strikes that were close enough to make my skin tingle. I was so relieved this morning when everyone strolled down the hill.

Hope we get round 2 today without the hail.

I'm in Boulder but you already figured that out if you lived in CO.

Wow Left Hand! That must have been scary! Glad everyone was okay!

For me, I got home just in time to catch all my turtles and get them inside. If there was a thirty second gap between me getting them in and the hail starting, I'd be surprised. It didn't start until after 9 here in Wheat Ridge. I'm sorta hoping for round two but also am mad that I can't put my turtles back in their cage today because I work late tonight. Their current cage floods out in bad storms, so they have to come inside to prevent drowning. I'm working on plans for a new cage though.

Storms are building W of the foothills but I'm ahead of the game today. Major was up by the gate so he's already been put up. He went straight to bed.

I've been dropping in on the hay auction today. I've been sweating that things weren't going to be any better with the heat and lack of rainfall but things are looking up. Some of the 2013 hay was up close to $300/ton but most of it was closer to $200. Instead of paying an extra $100 per big bale, prices were about $25 up over "normal". Wheat hay rounds went under $100/ton. More than we should pay but I'll be happy if I can find some good chew hay for $100.
