For all sorts of reasons keeping a horse in the US - and the majority of viewers on this Forum are American - costs a lot less than in the UK. But so does practically everything.
A good way to measure is not $1.60=£1 but rather $1= £1
I add up every pound I spend on my horse in the UK who is kept at a livery yard down South of England.
Stable, feed, bedding, medecines, vets, insurance, shoes, teeth, bits and pieces cost last year just over £4000.
If I add in competition, petrol, toll fees, then the cost goes higher.
Horse riding is not a cheap hobby - if you add everything up.
