Hi everyone, sorry if this is in the wrong section, I wasnt sure where to post.
Well where do I start, im 25 and I have been riding since I was about 6, I stopped for a year or 2 when I had my eldest who is now nearly 6. I have since started riding again, I've ridden a fair few horses over the last couple of years and im currently riding at a friends yard who buys and sells horses, so its usually something new every other week. I have had horses in the past but im talking years ago when I was still a kid. Basically I am wanting to buy my own again this year but want to get an idea of upkeep as im sure prices have increased since then. Basically it would be kept on a DIY yard, with field and stable priced at either £15 or £20 a week depending on which yard id use. Ideally it would live out during the summer months and be stabled in the winter and turned out during the day, id also have it insured - I've seen lots of people fatally not insure their horse in incur huge vets bills! I know obviously theres the dentist/farrier/wormers/feed/bedding/vaccinations/insurance etc as well as the livery cost but im wanting an approximate cost for the upkeep with todays prices. Any replies would be appreciated. Thanks x
