Couch bound for a few weeks..

Well.. Most everyone on here knows about my working student position down here in Florida. :) I had a mare in training with me, that I shared with another trainer to help me. Her name is Illori, a 2004 mare out of Hailo Pg*E* and Incantare... Who had EPM (that I wasn't informed about before I started working with her)

So, I was getting a seat lesson on her, working with no reins at a posting trot. I started to lose my balance. I reached for and grabbed the bucking strap on the front of the saddle. The first thought that went through my head was "Don't squeeze with your legs." And I didn't. I regained my balance and just as I did she started bucking. I made it through 4 bucks before they pulled her head into the circle to my right, and I went left. I landed on the back of my right shoulder, my left shoulder followed, and then my legs came back over my head and my knees touched the dirt. I kept moving and rolled over onto my hands and knees and stay there for a few minutes because I got my breath knocked out of me.

Went to the ER to find out I had two transverse process fractures..

Anyone else had this? How long were you off riding? I guess i'm just looking for more info... lol

Me too... I'm so bored... I live right on the farm I work at and I keep seeing everyone riding by my windows... talk about being jealous. Lol

I have never had that happen but I have had my share of other broken bones and pinched nerves. I hope you heal up fast and can get back to riding.
