Beautiful story. It's amazing how much a horse can feel us. They know what we need...even when not even we know ourselves. Whether we need a friend, or someone to give us a good slap, they're there, and they're ready to do it. I personally work at a therapeudic farm for both disabled and under priviledged/at-risk kids, and they way people can open up and really just let it go with the horses is astounding.
My own mare is an opinionated, moody, fire-cracker of an animal that normally wouldn't let you so much as hug her neck, but I've seen her stand, perfectly still, as broken, mentally exhausted children cling to her- just needing someone to understand what it's like to not be understood. She's quietly accepted my frustrated or angry tears with forgiveness that I can't even understand...and she knows. She knows that she is my lifeline, and I am hers.
It sounds like it's much the same for you and Commet. You saved eachother, and because of that- you will always be bonded.
