    Talking Daily horse/other animal lie chat

    So, here is a chat thread to talk about how your rides went, or hw your other animals are doing, like for instance while you where feeding the horses your dog got kicked. So, today I rode my friends TB, And I learned a lot about more subtle aids. Anyone else?

    Three days ago our weather drastically cooled off and my horse 'lost his mind' when we were getting ready to go out for a ride... Not really, but those that experience sudden weather changes will probably understand what I am talking about... I actually got off for my own safety and did some more ground work. Then I mounted up and worked him in a small area.

    The next day the weather was still cool, but we had a much better ride since I was more aware and prepared (mentally) for any shenanigans.

    Yesterday, I rode by myself. Our horse had a slight melt-down as we were leaving the front of our property. I spun and trotted him off and he responded well as he just needed something to get his attention and get his feet moving. The rest of our ride around the neighborhood was very nice.

    @buildabunny awesome, isnt it fun?
    @wdblevin I'm glad you got your horse calmed down. I know what the suddenly crazy horse thing feels like :P my horse can get very crazy if it's even slightly windy out.

    Chickenoverlord, thanks.

    Then there was a crazy-scary limb with moss down in the next pasture... We have many 200+ year old Live Oaks on our property, so seeing limbs and moss shouldn't have affected Chuck. The wind was a bit up, too, so that probably just added to his state of mind.

    My first trainer said wind blowing between a horse's ears or up a their butt can definitely make things iffy. ;-D

    Lol, "night of the evil branches"! My boy is absolutely convinced that the gate to the barn will come and kill him when it's windy xD.
