Talking Daughter's First Show

Well it sounds impressive but its just a local agricultural show with horse events included. But it is her first show, so a fun one to see how she likes it.

She's doing the kids aged 10 and under lead line classes, both being lead and leading the pony herself. If she is confident and the pony (the riding school's Shetland called Little Ted) is behaving she can do the younger kids ridden class too.

She is absolutely beside herself with excitement !!

We've been at the riding school for 2 -3 hours every day after school this week practising and prepping the pony. It's my first time involved in a show too. So I've been learning about all the work that goes into it too. it takes a lot longer to wash a Shetland than I thought LOL!

Wish us luck! We will be up at the crack of dawn tomorrow, hopefully she's not too excited to sleep ...

Umm so much good luck and we expect many many pictures! Little Ted.. That is too cute! With all that practice she's going to kill it!

Well we're home again . DD got third in all three of her events including the one where she rode by herself. The Little Ted was naughty while waiting for the other competitors to do their bit, but she kept him under control and still managed a third place, so she was very pleased with herself and so was I.

Had a fun day, lots of lovely horses. Did witness some very bad owner behavior though. One trailer had three mini ponies tied up to it unsupervised with very long leads. We found all three tangled upon there ropes, one was down on its side on the trailer ramp with the rope around all four feet and its neck. No one could find the owners, they hadn't checked on their ponies since they'd tied them there after their event. So we helped get them all untangled and stood the little guy up again and walked him around a little. He seemed okay. Think someone was going to tell the show steward if the owners didn't come back soon. Lucky he wasn't down long. Some people...!
