Did You Know? horse facts!

Did you know that during the black plague groomsmen were rarely infected? As we know now fleas were the cause of the plague. Horses are not know to be infested with fleas even back then so the groomsmen were not around the fleas nearly as much, making them the people who weren't often infected! Horses once again saving people!

Know an interesting horse fact? Share it!

Foal
I heard that paint horses started as an undesireable trait in quarter horse breeding. Breeders would often kill the foal at birth if they displayed any unusually obvious white markings. One breeder managed to get a hold of several of these paint horses and started the new breed. Thank goodness he did, they're truly wonderful horses.

(I have no idea if it's true or not, it's just a rumor I heard. Maybe someone knows more about it than I do)

Horses don't have a gall bladder.

Horses have the largest eyes of any land mammal. Huh, I would have thought that'd be an elephant or giraffe.
