Do Anyone Else Hate This?

I hate it when I'm at a gymkhnana and a person runs and people on the sidelines are screaming things at the person riding, like "bring him in!","GOGOGO!", "KICK HIM!" and "GET HIM GOING!".
I just hate it. Like in the gymkhana critique vids even on here, ou can here the people screaming that. It just annoys the heck outta me. Sorry, but yelling instruction is not gonna get that rider to be more succesful! Unless its at home, not at a competition!
And I hate it when the person is just whipping their horse to high heavens when coming back. its not going to make it go faster when its maxed out already!
Anyone else get me? Or is it just me? :) lol

I do see your point!! I am not a huge fan of yelling, but when people are yelling out stuff to encourage the rider, (some of us may need a little boost now and then) then I think its completely reasonable.

Why? I'm verbal, when I see friends or people I board with at my barn doing a Jumping comp, riding with their shoulders dropped, upper bodies leaning forward, hands dropped, looking down - whatever, I'll shout out at them reminding them to correct themselves.

Heck I just did it tonight when I was riding during a lesson going on around me. Not my student, not that I care - I saw faults and I helped her correct herself, and guess what - she had a 10x better ride when I was shouting out at her, than she did the ride before when I didn't say pip.

Im in dressagel, haha when someones riding a test you can hear a pin drop XD NOONE dares to say a thing when some one is riding in the show, its sorta funny actually, i would love to have that encouragement of my friends yelling 'whooooohoooo!!!! get 'er done!!!' lol and stuff like that, but that wouldnt really help in dressage....... haha

If there are no horses in heaven... im not going.

but these arent encouragments. I would also love to hear the "WOOHOO"S!"
I'm talking about the shouts from those people that are just screaming "WHIPE HER!" or "KICKKICKKCIK!" and just being obnoxious.

Yeah, those are pretty annoying. I do shows for the purpose of having fun, and having fun only; and there ARE some people who take it to far and get super serious like that.

At sanctioned competition it is strictly forbidden to 'coach' from the sidelines. "Illegal" coaching will get a rider disqualified and quickly, without a lot of fanfare or polite forgiveness.

Cheering is a different thing but we are so well trained in not speaking at ring- side, the cheers are reserved for after the rider exits. Then we carry on excessively at the awards ceremonies. Dancing on the table is required : )

D; I'm guilty of doing that. I just get SO into it that I don't realize what I'm doing.
