Smile Do horses sneeze when they are happy?

I have always been told that dogs sneeze when they are happy, my sweet old Smooth Collie Murphy sneezes three times.
Jace, my Palomino has the heaves but never coughs any more, I give him a little "Cough Free" every day and it sure works, I would do a commercial for them!
I am an avid reader of Joe camp's books and when Jace and I did the Join-Up he came over to me and sniffed and licked me all over, I was patting and scratching him (he seemed almost hypnbotized by it) and then he sneezed 6 times, shook his head and went to his special Scratchy tree that I trimmed for him and scratched himself more.

When I pat him and scratch him and really make contact with him he sneezes then too. Not every day or every week. Is he just happy???

Never heard of horses sneezing when they're happy.

Never heard of that either. I don't think there's a connection.

I wonder, he seemed so happy that we were finally joined up and he only does it when we are really close or I give him a really good scratch. I am not worried (I have enough to worry about, believe me) but very curious, he is my first horse so anything he does is miraculous to me. I also have some very experienced horseman as friends and I ask them things on a daily basis. I have not asked them this one yet. This afternoon I took a lawn chair out to his paddock and sat with a blanket over me reading. He came up and nosed my hair and blew in my ears and we exchanged breath. That horse is my life and if sneezing indicated he is happy I will do anything for him to amuse him!
