Okay, Canadian here, not allowed to carry guns except during hunting season....what about hip holsters? Didn't they ride horses in Gunsmoke and pack those, quick dismount and shot the outlaw? Could've sworn I seen an episode like that!

I dunno about that. I attach my horse to the saddle, and I'd be very upset if I lost him!

But yes, I'd never attach my firearm or cellphone to the saddle. If you and the horse become separated, you're up a creek without a paddle.

Sorry, I know this is off-topic - but giving your mom a hello-kitty stuffy and a gun accessory just made me laugh.

No, Gunsmoke is where Chester tried that, and shot himself in the leg. Where do you think he got that limp?...

Can't carry firearms on "government" property, which includes national forests and parks. State parks, I am not sure on, presumably no, because it is still "government" property. You would talk with local park personnel to be sure.

I would suggest a thigh holster, but that takes away from having a concealed carry. Another option is using a fanny pack, and they even make velcro ones specifically for holstering firearms. That way you just rip the 'pack' part off and you can un-holster your firearm.

Be sure what your handgun carry permit covers, concealed carry or open carry. You can get into a lot of trouble for carrying concealed when you only have an open carry permit.
