does 81" seem too big for a blanket for my mare?

So I quickly measured my mare a couple days ago because I want to get her a light summer turnout sheet for trailering and for nights before shows to keep her clean. I measured from the center of her chest back to the center of her tail and got 81"

In hindsight.. doesn't that seem pretty big?? Just wondering because she's only about 14.2hh, though fairly stocky I suppose (draft cross).

I'm pretty sure I measured right, and I'd like to go double check but I'm away from home now for two weeks and would like to order the sheet now so it's there when I get home (will be moving my horse halfway across the country the day after I get back)

Does anyone have a short horse who takes a larger blanket size like that, or did I screw up royally on the measurements?

I know it's a bitxh, but wait until you can double check the measurements.

That seems awfully big. My 16.3 3/4 hh stocky warmblood-like gelding takes a 81" blanket.

My 14.3 stocky mustang wears a 69 so I think you measured wrong.

Ugh how the heck could I possibly have screwed that up so bad....? I wonder if my measuring tape lied to me lol.

Oh well. I guess I'll just wait - I have a HUGE fleece cooler (83" bahahahaha... it fits her like a bedsheet...) that I can use if worst comes to worse.

... or maybe I'll check and see what their return shipping policy is like and try ordering a smaller size and crossing my fingers. GamingGrrl, what do you think your mustang weighs?

I have a tiny 15.1hh TB mare who has a very long back, and everyone is always shocked when they find she wears as 80 or 81" blanket because she definitely doesn't LOOK that big. It is possible, just not very common.

Haha okay River is more than that... and I did measure twice and get about 81" both times. Maybe it is due to the length of her back. I might order an 80" and just cross my fingers.... I don't really think I could have screwed up the measurement that bad.
