Whenever my gelding decides to act up, I "remind" him of how lucky he is to have me.
Like today, I chased him around for 30 mins in mud to my ankles muttering "I gave you a home, you little ungrateful s.o.b."
Or out of the trail yesterday while he was bucking me
"I feed you and put a roof over your head.. and all I want is a little trail ride every once and a while. Is that too much to ask?"
I think he forgets how lucky he is to have me So i feel the need to remind him when he pisses me off.
I called my appaloosa "Alpo". I dont think he got the reference. I have an agreement with my chickens I constantly remind them of,,,,,,
Eggs for breakfast, or chicken for dinner, the choice is yours.
I usually say not so nice things when I'm annoyed. She doesn't know what I'm calling her, she just knows I'm angry. Occasionally when she forgets that she's trained and acts like a nutjob. One those days, the things that come out of my mouth would make a sailor blush. Good thing nobody else is around when this happens. Ha.
Toby has been reminded he is lucky he is not dog food on more than one occasion. I also threaten on leasing him to a person that will actually make him work for a living. I don't think he believes me.
Ohhh yes... when he acts like a butt-wipe, the things I say make everyone around me bewildered. Like today, he kept spooking at absolutely nothing and I kicked him so hard forwards and yelled at him to keep going or else and he did and all was well
He knows how lucky he is when I let my not so understanding boarders on him >: P
But at the beginning I'd say "I saved you from that hellhole, the least you can do is pay attention!" "I drive out here in the pouring rain with no jacket to feed you and this is how you repay me?!"
I say the most bizarre things to my horses when they act up. Barn owner heard me call my horse a 'flubber footed turd mongrel' last night lol I have no idea where that came from!! I didn't even realize what I had yelled at him until I heard the barn owner laughing hysterically at me. Posted via Mobile Device
My mare loves to run from me. I usually gripe at her the whole time I'm chasing after her and the whole time we're walking to the barn. She doesn't appreciate that and often has her ears pinned the whole way. Then again, she can't take a compliment either and pins her ears at those, too.
LOL, I tell my horses that there's a dinner plate in Montreal with their name on it when they act up. Or I start calling him/her "Biftek" and if I'm really aggravated, I even start adding side dishes. So, Biftek et pommes frites or Biftek et un salad...I've gotten as far as a 6 course meal a couple of times.
Oh yeah! I tell my young gelding all the time about what a good home he has and how he could end up at a horrible place if he don't behave.
And that he should talk to his mother about it (she's been through a bunch of homes) and that not all horses have a good home or a home period! I cater to his every need. Even if he doesn't really mean it, can't he at least pretend I'm in charge and humor me?
