Does this sound like a scam?

My friend forwarded this to me just now and I think it looks rather suspicious. A beautiful warmblood gelding who is supposed to "do it all", for free/adoptive home. I don't have a piccy at present, but the fact he wants to "ship" is coming across really suspicious to me. Plus the numerous spelling/grammar errors that apparently weren't present when she first contacted the seller.

Yes, it's a scam. There is no horse.

The 'shipping company' will require a certain amount of money, and the 'owner' will send your friend a check for more than is required to pay to ship the horse.

For your friend's trouble, she'll get to keep the extra, but the amount of shipping fees will need to be sent by Western Union to the 'shipping company'.

The check will bounce, and your friend will be out her own money.

Seriously, this scam is as old as the hills.
