donkey,s and horses

I notice a lot of people on here keep donkeys with their horses ,i used to keep donkeys but always kept them and the horses seperate, the reason being that I always believed the ass carried a lungworm which it could pass, but if the horse picked the larva up it would stick in him causing damage.anyone know about this

The danger of your donkeys giving horses lungworm is actually very minimal. Only donkeys and mules are excessively sensitive them; and with good, regular worming, they are seldom infected. Horses just don't seem to get lungworm much. Not to say they don't, it is just uncommon.
