My riding instructor spoke with the stable owner as she said she would - right now they only have ponies available for loan; all the big horses are out already. That's a real shame, as there are plenty of them that I would love to ride - Jazz, Mr Darcy, Finnegan, Charlie Brown, just for starters, but I know that if a slightly more forward horse was available I'd work hard to be good enough to handle them too. Katie wasn't sure when the various loans come to an end, but as I'm leaving at the end of September it doesn't look likely that one will be available in time. We're going to talk about Christmas, as I'm home from uni for three weeks then, but I'm not sure if that's such a good idea as I'll be spending the holiday revising for the hardest set of exams in the whole of my course.
This has got me feeling pretty down, obviously. I've been searching all over the place for information on horses available to loan or share within my area, and there's absolutely nothing. There are very, very few horses for sale in my area and none advertised for loan.
Not that that matters too much, as I'm rapidly running out of holiday. I'm going to have to look towards next summer. I am feeling disappointed, though; I'm good enough to loan one of the school horses now, which I didn't think I'd be able to do in time, and it's just availability that's holding me back from my dream plan of loaning one for the last three weeks/month of the holidays!
:( It did look like one of those pipe dreams that might actually come to fruition, but it's not. And I'm a bit annoyed, but mostly disappointed.
