Thanks for link. I don't see it coming to an end either, unless he really doesn't take to the travel or track. Gunrunner is going in my selections of usual suspects for underneath. Along with Hoppertunity, Neolithic and Keen Ice.

Always a tendency in sports when you see something so spectacular to over exaggerate. But that truly was unbelievable. One of the greatest performances ever. This horse is beyond amazing. It flashed in my mind after seeing that start he is going to have to be Secretariat to get there. Not getting that carried away, and rare anyone mentions a horse in same breath as the Great One, but that may be as close as we'll ever see.

The post race interview is up. Mike said something that makes this even more unbelievable. He said he asked him a little and he took off. But then he slowed him down, not wanting to make the lead to fast. Went back and watched the video. At 1:20 you can see him blast forward around the turn. That is really amazing.

Here is post race video for those interested.

Thanks for posting that, @aubie, I found it interesting.

A couple things struck me. One, was how much Baffert second-guessed his decision to run Arrogate in the race. Those of us with our little operations or hobby horses question our decisions frequently. And I think we assume that the top successful horsemen somehow make choices with complete confidence. It was nice to hear the humility.

And when Baffert referenced a Zenyeta race, saying even though his horse got beat, he was thankful to be there to watch her great win - that's professionalism!

It is Boots. Part of that for me was also hearing someone with that much experience, at the very top have the same feeling the rest of us get. Horseplayers are very familiar with that what have I done feeling. Seeing these moments really are what makes this sport. There are also moments like the end of Let it Ride for those that have seen it. The little prayers we all make, even though it may not help our ticket. I remember a couple of years ago in the Kentucky Oaks starting to cheer for Boo Boo Clark. A lesser known jock who in his mid 50's had a chance for his first Grade I. I remember just like in the movie, a " I don't care about the money, just let him have it" moment. And being so happy for him.

There are so many things that make this sport special that you just don't find in any other. It's hard to explain to those unfamiliar who watched the race just how amazing that was. Way more than just a feel good come from behind victory.

I have not forgotten American Pharoah. Don't think anyone has. What he did was extremely special. And for Mike to say he's the best horse he ever rode really sticks out. Not only all the greats he has been on , but especially Zennyatta. She is special to him. He brought her up yesterday. But I honestly don't think she could have gotten home from there yesterday. Or American Pharoah either. It's why Bob went with Secretariat.
