Elle didn't work out

I had Elle, the 6 year old appy mare for a month and decided she just wasn't right for me. She was a very bossy mare from the start but being the beginner I am didn't really notice for a while. She was pushy, stomped her feet when you pick them up...stuff like that. I still liked her though. I actually decided against keeping her when I tried to mount her for the first time and she reared up in the middle of mounting. I jumped down grabbed the reins from my friend while she was stomping and rearing and calmed her down but it made me worry about ever mounting her again.

I suppose that my confidence is shot and I'm just going to wait a while before I look around too much. If a great horse comes my way fine but I'm not going to go out looking right now...especially since I already put $800 into Elle just to send her back :(

Awwww, sorry things didn't work out for Elle. Will you still stick around horses even though you don't have your own? Maybe riding lessons?

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord. 'Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future'" ~ Jeremiah 29:11

Don't be too hard on yourself over the whole ordeal. It sucks horse searching, but when you find one that works it is worth it.

As they say "Life is too short to ride a horse that is totally wrong for you." At least you know enough to say she's wrong for you.

here here. I wish more people knew when a horse just wasn't right for them.

Sorry it didn't work out. You never know until you have a go.

Good luck for the future and don't let the confidence bring you down, it'll shoot back up again I promise. It happens to all of us.

thanks everyone. Hopefully I'll get a lot more riding in before I go find another one. If I can get some experience under my belt it will help me find the right one.
