Embarrassing riding moment - kinda girly.

Today I had a rather embarrassing moment while I was working with a green polo mare...

I use a stock saddle with a long horn when I work with green horses (for polo, anyway). This mare was particularly short, only 15 hands I think. Most of you know how tall I am ... Well, we were dribbling at a working canter and I decided to see if the mare would accept a neck shot (I didn't actually hit the ball, just swung the mallet under her neck to see her response). I had leaned forward steeply to do so and my bra (decided not to wear a sports bra... sigh) got caught on the horn. When I tried to sit up, my bra snapped. OOOOH great. Well! Lucky mare. Training session was short today, time to go home... errr... Keep in mind I am not lacking in the chest area...

Thank goodness I hadn't worn a button up or a more see-through shirt! Just had to share!

I'm so busy, I don't know if I've found a rope... or lost my horse...

Lol! Too funny! I've heard this happening before. I always wear a sports bra. Are you able to wear a sports bra? Some girls are too big for them. Hopefully your not. That's cool that you train for polo. How neat! I was just thinking you used a stock saddle and I know polo riders use english? Not sure of the type of saddles. I'm western so forgive my lack of english knowledge. But you just use that for training. Got it. Well, lesson learned hay? Good luck next time;)

awww haha sorry but I know your pain....same thing happened to me during a poles run a few months ago we were barely half way done the pattern when it happened...I was like crap and continued the run (we ended up placing glad I got something out of it haha) but I definitely know your pain haha. It took SIX safety pins to hold it together so it would keep the girls in for the rest of the show(we still had another event to run and I ride 2 horses lol)

Ha, ha, ha!

I feel your pain! This happened to me when I was a teenager jumping my horse over a log in the woods...boy did that hurt too! My sternum was bruised for a week!

Anyway, I had nothing to repair my bra & I was sooooooo embarassed! I never told anyone what happened for years!

That was the incident that changed me from a western rider to english...

LOL! How embarrassing!

I had a similar thing happen when I was a teenager. I used to be a trail guide. My job was to follow behind the string and help people out who didn't know what to do. One time a woman completely dropped her reins and they ended up over the horse's head. I tried to hurriedly jump down to help her out, but my bra caught on the horn while I was dismounting. I ended up dangling from my bra for a few seconds before the bra snapped.

The rest of the trail ride was very ...bouncy..

Haha yes I can wear a sports bra, but I didn't that day. Typically you'd use a rough-out all-purpose saddle for polo (or something similar), which is all fun and dandy for games, but I prefer my stock saddle with the greenies during training because they will jolt me around and send me up on their necks if I'm not careful - something the knee panels are great for. Here's a photo of the particular mare, with my saddle:

And this is the saddle-of-preference to some others who train:

Polo is the sport where they use the long mallets and hit a ball on the ground, and try to score goals. One of the only sports I can WATCH as well as play without falling asleep! :P Besides racing and a few select others, of course.

I knew a girl that was dismounting her horse and her bra got hooked on the horn and the horse jumped sideways pulling the bra and shirt over her head. She was at a high school rodeo practice when it happened so there were several boys that got more of an eyefull than they expected. Come to think of it most everyone there had already seen them at one time or another though.

I've done the same exact thing, Snookeys! I was going up a hill and the horse I was riding decided to buck when we got to the top. I stayed on, but lost my favorite bra :[. It gave everybody a good laugh though!

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail...
