Erm..I dont think Im a REAL 4-H leader???

A couple months back my BO and her friend were talking about starting a 4-h group. Well from the very begining I expressed how much I wanted to be in it and thought it was a good idea bla bla. Well the BO asked me twice if I wanted to help, YES!

So we had our very first meeting. And they were all voting on colors for the group. EVERYONE got to vote but for me. Also everyone who is helping with the camp be it parents ect. Has to fill out paper work, background checks ect. They have never given me any papers. I see on the board that there are 4-H leader meetings but I never get told the time or any info on the meeting wether or not I should come.

Im 20 and never was able to be in 4-h when I was younger. So what the heck does a leader do? Cause I thought it was more then sitting around doing nothing? I mean they have not included me in anything. But I know when things get tough they are going to want my help with all the dirty work. OH AND THEN I hear about a 4-h dinner and a movie night for EVERYONE to come and watch a horse movie have dinner and get to know eachother. WAS I INVITED??? NOOOO I was standing right there when my BO was talking about it!

So what does a real leader do? Don't they need to fill out paper work too? I just don't get it...

Then it doesn't sound like they want you to be a leader. You need to just come out and ask them. If you were, you'd be told about meetings and get togethers.

Its really weird cause like my friends and the girls I do lessons with are like begging me and basicly saying "you better do this with us or els"
And then when another girl was there to take pics they all wanted me in the pics. So Im getting mixed messages.

I live in Michigan so I'm sure things are different but we have a extension officer for our county. Try doing a search on google for your county 4h. You should be able to find forms and the person you should report to that could give you more information when leader meeting are and such.

I would definetely talk to person in your group thou about what they want you to do. If they don't want your help, I'm sure there is another group that would love your help!

This is the only group here, well that's not crazy and goes to fair and embarrasses the horseworld. We do have a person where you go and get all the forms but my group has already done all that stuff. And they didnt give me a thingy to fill out. I mean im just a cold body there.
