One of the horses at the barn where I ride is extremely sick! Her name is Calliope (cali for short) she's is a 10y/o Warmblood mare, she used to jump 4ft and compete extremely successfully, but her owner has always been fighting stomach ulcers with her. And for the past 3 months or so she has been having increasing stomach problems, having small bouts of colick. The vet has been out a ton and said the colicking was probably due to the stomach ulcers acting up. Well a few days ago Cali colicked BAD they took her to the closest equine clinic and ran tests and discovered that the stomach ulcers werent the problem at all, in fact they were gone, so they did exploratory surgery and found a HUGE mass in her intestines, they're running tests to see if its cancerous or not, the results arent in yet. They had to preform bypass surgery to get her intestines moving well enough around the mass, they couldnt remove it because its so big that removing it would most likely kill her. So please if everyone could just keep Cali in their thoughts, she's a wonderful horse who doesnt deserve to have to go through this.
