Extreme Mustang Challenge

Off to greet the 2 new mares that are coming home with 2 friends today. THey have 100 days to train them, and then take them to NJ (there are several locations around the country) in August, show them and then they get auctioned off. It is always amazing how much can be accomplished in such a short time.

Then in a month, one of these same friends will go pick up another mustang to train for the Mustang Million, which is a higher dollar competition, but the same idea, with the exception that they get to choose their mustang for that one, and they actually purchase it.

Will be fun to watch over the summer, as this husband and wife each train their
Own.

If anyone wants to follow the journey, one of them has a FB page and she is pretty good at keeping it updated with what is happening.....just PM me and I will let you know who she is.

I'll shoot you a PM to get their facebook page; I loved watching Wylene and Al Dunning work with Trooper a few years back.

Wylene is actually doing a clinic at their farm-I think it is Memorial day. Wishing I could go.

Ooh, very cool! If you could PM that would be great :) My trainer, some friends, and I might be heading down to Gloucester to watch, and possibly adopt a future lesson horse. Cool stuff!

Depending on where they show in NJ, if it's close to the PA border, I am pretty close. I'd like to go watch. Please send me the FB page so I can follow along.

If you plan to go to the show and auction F&B please let me know. I'd love to buy you a beer.

Just watched a movie this week about it. It was pretty good. Wild Horse Wild Ride. A friend rented it from a Red Box and shared it with us. It looked fun and very touching. Easy to get choked up with how attached the people that are training get to the horse.

If we lived close enough to it or one of them, I would love to try it.

That movie really was an inspiration. I cannot imagine putting in all that work though, and then having to say goodbye. Not to mention, the quality of training and the quality of some of those horses that people are getting at auction for so darn cheap. It's amazing to me.

Life seems mighty precious, when there's less of it to waste.

I always wanted to do something like that! The people around here seem to think mustangs are useless. The last one I trained was absolutely wonderful. He was easier to train than a lot of other horses I've worked with.
