I've always preferred the smaller horses. I'm only 5'1", so anything over 15 h is big to me! Of course, my current favorite riding horse is 15.2-15.3 h, so I've had to make adjustments.

Physically best fit? 14.3-15.2hh

Favourite? 16.2hh-17.1hh! Although I look utterly stupid - I just like being tall for once LOL. I feel odd on smaller horses (Arabs excluded, they're just such a different feel), and I like feeling a bit of raw power underneath me (so long as it's going in the direction I want!!).

Ha, I'm 5'1 too. 15-15.2hh feels small to me lol, but I've ridden big TBs since I was a teen. The only thing annoying with bigger horses is doing ground stuff like grooming and tacking up - everything needs to be done on tippy-toes

I personally li horses that run 14-15 hh.
There is a 17 and a 16.1 Hh mare here both are TBs.
My stallion is 14.1 and my favorite mare is 14.2 but they both feel very powerful and have that floating trot and canter of the arabian.

I love taller horses. Because my discipline is barrel racing though, I'd say right around 15.0-16.0hh, give or take. (I'm 5'0" ) If I competed in something else, you'd see me on a 16.3hh+ horse. When I was working at a rescue last summer, I LOVED playing with all of the OTTBs because they averaged right around 17hh. (They were all jumpers... I don't know how to ride english, but I'd love to learn!)

Strength lies within the heart but the strength to trust lies between the horse and his rider.

since the ?? came from your trainer..I would have to ask why she asked..hehe I'm thinking it doesn't matter..from a trainer;s perspective you can ride any size with the correct cues for the type of riding..ie neck rein, leg/seat pressure, etc If its personal taste for me it really depends... my smallest horse is 14.2 and my biggest is my draft at 18H. she is like sitting on top of the world. my others fall in between..I think more of what we are going to do & which horse is better at doing it when choosing but that's just me

15hh if they're a solid build, 15.3hh is my limit.

16HH and up, Arabs excluded - they're something completely different.

I have come a long way, to surrender my shadow to the shadow of my horse.

Having fallen a few times, I agree

But being tall, I look much better on a 15-3 hand Horse or above
