Favorite Treats

I've got a 5 1/2 year old throughbred gelding and I'm trying to figure out a treat for him. So far he doesn't like apples, at least pink lady apples, or carrots.
What do you guys like to give your horses for treats?

I give mine apple or carrot flavored treats. They're Purina Dobbins Delights. I switch between the two and am on my third container - apple. They're big containers so they last a while. I think there's also a Peppermint flavor but I haven't gotten that one. Bought them from TSC.

You could try sugar cubes, or just browse your local tack/feed store or TSC for some treats.

My mare LOVES bananas and molasses bread... She goes mad for them!

Our OTTB goes nuts for peppermints and watermelon rinds but they are a very occasional treat. Our mare likes the rinds but thinks peppermints stink!

Most of the time our treat of choice is crumbled alfalfa cubes. They love them and they're healthy and cheap. The only time my horses would get alfalfa hay would be if I could find a diet variety! LOL

They do get completely spoiled on Christmas Eve. I mix up chopped apples, carrots, oats and molasses with some beet pulp soaked in hot water. By the time it gets to them it's a warm mash.....

I'm not a complete idiot--there are parts missing!

What you have become is the price you paid to get what you used to want.

Mine eats ANYTHING. Lol. He's such a pig. He loves donuts. He doesn't get them anymore because I don't eat them, but he used to love them. Plus he likes the usual, cookies, carrots, apples.

Pretty sure my horses would sell rides on the street corner for peppermint Stud Muffin cookies. Scotty's eyes bulge out when he sees those treats.
