Someone wlse picks up my grain altho I do have a great relationship with my hay man/farmer. He brings one bale at a time, usually weekly and we both try to be accommodating when it comes to scheduling the delivery.

I LOVE my feed store. Its a small one, family run, but they'll order anything I can't find there, and for an awesome price. They HOOK IT UP in the consignment section, and I get free stuff for being in there 2 ties a week or more for the last 2 yrs. I'm part of their holiday/birthday club (Annie gets treats on her birthday, I get company t-shirts or a mug or the like) and the loading guy (who I swear works more than I do even, that guy is ALWAYS there.) is super friendly. He always makes sure not to throw the hay on the fishing poles, and if it looks like anything might slip around, he ties it down for me :) I drive the extra seven miles for the service and the better quality hay.

We went to a small feed store, that an older couple owned. We always helped and feed store visits turned into hours. They would even open on sunday or stay open later if we called, then they had to close down. Not long after I started working at TSC so now all my feed comes from there as it's easy. With working there I have a good relationship with all the other workers.

We buy our grain from a local mill. It's a nice custom performance mix, supports local farmers, and about $1.50/bag less than even SafeChoice.

We have 2 farmer's coops, a TSC and an Atwoods here. The 1 co-op mills their own feed and it's crap, I won't feed it. The 2nd one the workers are AWESOME out back and I loved 'em but the inside help were absolute dogs and made me mad every time I went in, so as sson as TSC opened up, they got my business. I get a couple of things from Atwoods, if I'm across the street from it but they aren't very customer friendly.

TSC has been the most wonderful to deal with, they order what I want, call me when it's in, totally get the customer service thing. They've started carrying hay because of the drought, so that if anyone is short, they can run up and buy a couple of bales. LOVE my TSC. I have 2 hay guys, one who does round bales and another who does small bales. I also buy a cow a year from the round bale guy, love him and his family. I'm just getting to know the square bale guy, haven't got a good read on him yet, but I feel pretty positive about him too.

Well...my grandmother works part time at our feed store, so I'd say we have a great relationship. They guys always load her hay and feed(even though she can more than do it), they even give her firewood and load it on her truck for her. We also get discounts :)

I started buying my feed at a place near my work. I jokingly call it "the ghetto feed store" as it is literally in the middle of the nastiest part of LA county. Why there's a feed store there... I don't know. But the old guy that owns it is sweet and the boys that carry the feed are cute as all hell! Plus I like that I can support the guys business.

I far prefer to shop at the family operated feed/tack store I go to over TSC. TSC often has things the other one does not, has good customer service, etc., but they have to many customers to get to "know" them on a personal basis. I like the "mom and pops" atmosphere of the family run outfits, and they tend to be more social meeting places for people you know - whereas TSC is more commercial.

I have two feed stores close by that I frequent for my various supplies. One is a family operated store, whom my mayor of my town owns and the other is a state wide co-op. The workers at both stores know me and the family owned store knows what I'm there to buy when I walk in the store, they don't even have to ask how much or what I need. They just ring me up and get my order ready. Both stores have been really awesome if I have ever had to special order certain feeds or helping me if I ever have questions. I Love my feed and farm stores!

The owner of one of the feedstores is a longtime friend of mine, but she does not work there often, but her employees are great. I get a 10% discount off feed & tack because I belong to Horse Council of BC, so that's a bonus.
