Wink Feel Like I've Landed On A Barrel...

Because I did.

So yesterday at my show Phantom and I were running barrels and for once we were doing great. His first turn was darn near perfect and that was his worst turn then his second turn was GORGEOUS. We run to the third barrel and everything is looking great. We get to the barrel and he drops out from under me and I get catapulted (from what everyone said) 3ft into the air and I landed on the barrel HARD(mind you they are metal). My whole body hit the barrel head on at full speed after going up 3ft. When I slammed the barrel the wind got knocked out of me and the barrel flew one way while I went off the other way.

All I remember is Phantom dropping out from under me, seeing the barrel coming, then not being able to breathe while looking at the sky and I couldn't bend my left leg. I started panicing because I couldn't breathe but I didn't get up because I didn't know if anything else was hurt. My friend's dad and mom were the first people to get to me. Then my trainer and a few other people. They asked me to bend my left leg it was fine but I still couldn't breath right. We found out later because I was paniced. My friends mom kept soothing me and saying deep breaths Cass deep breaths. Easy calm your brow area because it was tense. I calmed down and the first thing out of my mouth was "Is Phantom okay?" They all laughed and my one friend was like "Now how did we know you were going to say that?" We all laughed.

I laid there for a second just mentally checking everything while everyone joked with me. I finally said I was okay to get up and everyone pulled me up. Everyone was cheering and clapping and suddenly I felt embarassed haha.

From waht everyone said what happened was as Phantom ran towards the pocket of the third barrel he tripped and I went off balance and as he was righting himself I got catapulted up out of the saddle and since we were leaning into the turn I flew where we were leaning (the barrel). Then Phantom ran home and finished the pattern too bad I wasn't with him haha.

But yeah now I am extremely sore. I am so glad all of my friend's were there to help me through that ordeal because it was DEFINATELY my worst fall in all my years of riding. To be honest I was more worried about Phantom because I thought he went completely down and was hurt.

I didn't feel seriously hurt just banged and bruised so I Cowgirled Up and tacked TBird up for my final barrels run of the day. Me and TBird ended up getting a 21 in barrels (our pattern is set up larger and between a 19-21 is considered awesome)

Sorry it's so long just had to share a bit. If anyone has any ideas how to soothe my horribly aching body that would be awesome. Also feel free to share some of your bad falls to if you would like.

Ouch that sounds like it hurt, if you can stand it ice baths help with aches and pains.

You are never better than anyone. Every rider has skills they need to improve. The only one you must compare yourself with, is you.

OW. I don't even want to know what that felt like. Did you land on the top or the side? I cringed the entire time I read that.

Ouch! Glad you are both okay! I use absorbine mixed 50/50 with cider vinegar on myself all the time for aches & sore muscles. Works better than icy hot, my hubby says it smells worse but it just smells like another day at the barn to me :)

Life is like a camera. Focus on what's important, Capture the good times, Develop from the negatives and if things don't work out, Take another shot.

I landed on the edge of the top of the barrel and pushed it over so it fell and I bounced off of it. It was seriously my worst fall ever.

I would have had it on video but my videography was mad at me for telling him not to wrestle with the kids =/

MHFQ - I think I am definately going to try that I can stand almost any smell haha. Anything to help me to not be sore. Icy hot definately hasn't been working for me so far. Neither has bayer back and body. It's all basically just bumps and bruises. If I don't start feeling better by thursday I'm going to make an appt. with the dr. just to make sure evverything's okay.

So yeah definately from my angle it wasn't pretty and from what people at the show said it wasn't pretty from their angle either.
