Unhappy Feel like the worst horse owner :(

Just need to vent!

Curly has been sick with what we thought was Ross River but the vet just called with the results 2.5 weeks later and it wasnt ross river. So it may have been Barmah Forest virus or some other viral infection.

Anyway, because of this on strict vet orders of absolutely no work Curly hasnt had much done with her these last weeks and now she is really depressed about it. Everytime im at the farm riding mums horse she stands at the fence with the saddest expression on her face and she was not interested in eating today because she is sad.

Going from being ridden 5/6 days a week and pampered loved like crazy to nothing has really brought her down, I feel so horrible looking at her and seeing her watching me through the fence with her ears all floppy and her all sad looking.

I just needed to vent a bit, im going out there later and im just going to hop on her bareback (wander round) and brush her and love on her lots and hopefully make her feel better.

Im so horrible , I feel like I have neglected my best friend

Aww you haven't!! She just misses you is all, probably wishes she were all better so you could ride her again.

You're a fab horse owner, don't feel any less than fabulous! She'll love getting loved on though; will definitely cheer her up :)

So you quit riding her? Or you quit riding, and grooming, and spending time with her? Because if you started ignoring her because she was sick, then you ARE a horrible horse person. But if you only stopped riding her, then you have nothing to be ashamed of, and you've done exactly what you were told to do, and what your horse needed.

Wow :/ I was told not to even take her out of her paddock, she was only allowed to do horse stuff. Of course I didnt quit feeding her and giving her hugs but not as often as before.

Woahhh woah woah!!! Ouch and very uncalled for!

She can't exactly go out to the pasture every waking minute to spend with her horse since she wasn't allowed to bring her up.

Thanks Sky, when she was really sick I literally did spend every available moment of light with her, because of that I got behind in my year 12 so have been frantically catching up!

It would be my horse's greatest dream if I would suddenly leave them totally alone. They see me coming and go "Aw crap, the b**** is back..."

I never said she should spend every waking minute with the horse? And it was not intended as a flame, or a criticism. Simply a statement of fact. If you ignore a horse because its ill, you shouldn't have a horse. If you only follow the directions of the vet, then you've done what you were told by someone more experienced than you, and have no reason to feel poorly about yourself.

Made me laugh! Thanks! I would have thought that to. But apparently not!
